Oppo’s latest handset is now available for Australian consumers to purchase with the promise of fast charging at a mid-range price.

Oppo knows its market position, and while the R7s does command a price premium against its other handsets at $529 outright, that is still well below the kinds of asking prices of full premium brand phones of the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy style.

So what does your $529 buy you in specification terms?

The standout features of the R7s are its use of VOOC flash charging for rapid battery filling with a claimed ability to get back up to 90 percent of its charge in just 50 minutes. That would be only with using Oppo’s provided charger, however; if you plugged the Oppo R7s into any other microUSB charger you would only get regular slow charging.

The inclusion of 4GB of RAM is also an unusual standout for a phone at the mid-range price point. Stay tuned for a full review once we've had the chance to put the Oppo R7s through its paces.

The Oppo R7s is available to purchase from today from Oppo’s Australian web site and at retail in Dick Smith stores.
