Oppo launches R9 and hooks up with JB Hi-Fi

Alex Kidman 28 April 2016 NEWS

Oppo has announced Australian availability for the R9 smartphone, as well as inking a deal that will see its phones offered through JB Hi-Fi stores.

Oppo only announced the Oppo R9 and Oppo R9s back in mid-March, with an intent to launch its latest mid-range priced phones in Australia at some point in May for $599 and $699 respectively.

Oppo has now announced that the Oppo R9 will go on sale from May 9th through new retail partner JB Hi-Fi. Oppo had previously inked a deal with Dick Smith that saw its phones offered there, but with that chain’s collapse it lacked a physical retail outlet for its devices. The deal isn't just limited to phones, with JB Hi-Fi also stocking Oppo phone covers, and cases, and the company's own proprietary VOOC flash chargers.

As for the $699 Oppo R9s, that won’t quite make the May deadline, with Oppo announcing that it will be sold in Australia in June.

Here are the essential specifications for both phones.
