About One Italian Summer

Katy is extremely close to her mother, and can't wait to finally go on the trip she's been waiting on for years: Positano, the picturesque Italian seaside town where her parents met. When her mother passes away, Katy is shellshocked, but perseveres with the trip in her memory.

Positano almost immediately has an effect on Katy, as she feels her mother's spirit. To her astonishment, Katy soon meets her mother, alive and well, aged 30. Katy is understandably shocked, but is also overwhelmed with joy at being able to spend time with her best friend once again.

Over the course of one summer, Katy learns more than she ever thought possible about her beloved mother. The novel's fantastical premise and unfiltered portrayal of love is reminiscent of Serle's previous work, In Five Years.
