I love a good skincare product as much as the next person. While masks are my personal favourite – shout out to the GlamGlow mask – they're very closely followed by toners. This is because I enjoy wearing makeup most days and texture is my worst enemy. You cannot smooth your skin with just makeup, so a good toner is one of my holy grail products.
Some still question the purpose of a toner. Don't worry, we've all been there. Toners aim to balance out your skin according to what it needs. There are toners to control oil production, toners to exfoliate, toners to target acne scarring and so on.
The Ole Henriksen Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner aims to brighten dark spots, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and brighten and smooth the texture of your skin. I know, it sounds a little too good to be true, but trust me, this stuff will be your skin's new fairy godmother.
How is this product so damn amazing? Well, I believe it's down to the quality and formulation of its ingredients. It contains alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic and lactic acids), which are exfoliating chemical compounds and I'm obsessed with them. These chemicals cause the surface cells of your skin to shed, and this non-physical exfoliation helps you to avoid signs of ageing and leaves your skin looking brighter and feeling smoother.
The formula also includes sandalwood, chamomile and licorice extracts, which balance out the chemicals and make this product perfect to use every single day!
First things first, the lemon sugar scent of the Glow2OH toner actually makes you want to drink it. But also, don't do that. Please. That would be very bad.
But it does smell amazing, and the feeling on your skin is even better. I placed enough on a cotton pad to make it damp and swiped the product over my face after I had cleansed my skin. You'll feel a tingle that tells you that the product is getting to work and if that isn't satisfying then I don't know what is.
I personally have ridiculously dry skin and struggle to find products that give me that glowing dumpling skin. So, luckily for me, this toner doesn't contain any alcohol. Alcohol is a very drying product and isn't the greatest for those with already dry skin. Plus, the exclusion of alcohol (and the inclusion of the other amazing ingredients) means that I saw an immediate difference when I woke up the next morning. My skin was definitely more hydrated and I could even see the beginnings of a glow.
After using the Glow2OH toner for some weeks now I can also confirm that the texture of my skin has significantly improved. I used to use a full coverage foundation every day in an effort to liven up my sad, dreary and textured skin. Now I only use a BB cream or a very light coverage foundation because I actually don't want to cover up my skin. The small bumps that I use to have on my forehead have disappeared and my cheeks look as smooth as a li'l baby's bottom.
My skin is visibly brighter too. I definitely don't drink as much water as I should (oops – I'm working on it), so my skin can definitely look a little dull. After using this product there is a definite brightness and glow to my skin that I'm addicted to.
Being in my early 20s, I don't have a whole lot of fine lines, but I definitely want to keep it that way! And given that this product has delivered on all other aspects, I have no doubt that it will reduce fine lines and wrinkles and help me to avoid any future signs of aging.
Honestly, I don't think I've enjoyed a skincare product as much as I did this one. Yes, face masks are fun and they make you feel like you've got your life together, but this product gave me what I really wanted to see from my skin. Less texture? Tick. Hydrated skin? Tick. Less breakouts? Tick.
The Ole Henriksen Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner really ticked all the boxes for me and I'd happily spend the money to repurchase it after finishing the bottle. I'm not sure how it would go on super oily skin types but Ole Henrikson also has an oil control toner that may be better for those with oilier skin and if it's anything like the Glow2OH toner then it's a must-have.
The Glow2OH toner retails for $38. Again, it is a little pricey, but given that a small amount of product goes a long way and actually produces results, I'd say it's worth it.
The good news is, it's super easy to get your hands on the Ole Henriksen Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner. You can buy it online or in store from Sephora.
