Beauty product of the week: Nude by Nature Mineral Finishing Veil

Posted: 23 March 2018 12:46 pm

This is a setting powder for anyone that doesn't like setting powders.

Why we love this product

I don't like setting powders. They can exaggerate the fine hairs on your face. They can make your foundation look thick and cakey. They can change the actual colour of your foundation. If you've got oily skin, they can make your makeup patchy throughout the day. I just don't really like them.

I know they're supposed to help your makeup stay in place, but if the trade-off is looking cakey and unnatural, I'd rather cope with a bit of unwanted shine.

I've tried a fair few setting powders in the past, including many of the most raved about products, and haven't liked a single one of them – except one. The Nude by Nature Mineral Finishing Veil is the ultimate setting powder for anyone that hates setting powders.

I'm not exactly sure how this product works as well as it does, but somehow, once you apply it, it makes you look like you're wearing less makeup than you actually are. This is the key reason why I love using this product. I am a very big fan of the natural skin look. I only like sheer foundations and often opt for no foundation at all. I love the look of natural skin. And this setting powder allows your skin to shine. This Finishing Veil adds no extra bulk or cakiness to your foundation, rather it almost pares back any dewiness just enough to let your real skin shine through your base.

It definitely holds your makeup in place and prevents your undereye concealer from creasing. And you don't need to overdo it to reap the benefits. You only need a small amount of this product to see the effects.

And since this product is created by Nude by Nature, you know it's good for your skin too. It's made from kaolin clay, which is a non-drying form of clay. My favourite face mask by Jurlique is actually made from the same stuff. It's great!

If you love the full-glam, your-makeup-won't-budge-an-inch look, this might not be for you. But if you love natural-looking, glowing skin and hate looking overdone, then this is the setting powder you didn't know you needed.

This powder will set you back $39.95, which I do think is a bit pricey for a drugstore brand. However, you get a lot of product in the container and you use so little of it that it can last for ages. I had my most recent container for two years.

Where you can buy it

You can buy the Nude by Nature Mineral Finishing Veil from the Nude by Nature website or you can snap it up at Priceline.
