NRMA Travel Insurance FAQ

  • I’m planning a cruise in Australian waters. Which policy should I buy?
    • Even though your cruise is in local waters, your private health insurance won’t cover you for medical and dental expenses. It’s best to buy an international policy to ensure complete cover in case of a medical or dental emergency. See our cruise cover page for more information.
  • Is pregnancy covered?
    • Your pregnancy is covered up to the 24th week as long as there are no complications and the conception was not medically assisted.
  • Can I buy extra cover for a pre-existing medical condition?
    • As long as you are an Australian citizen, you can add extra cover for a pre-existing medical condition for yourself or any person insured under your policy. You will need to be medically assessed or produce a medical certificate from your doctor.
  • Are my medical records kept private?
    • The insurer may need to collect, use and disclose your medical information when considering your application. You can choose whether or not to disclose everything, but this influence the insurer’s decision about whether or not to insure you.
  • Who underwrites NRMA Travel Insurance?
    • NRMA travel insurance is provided by CGU Insurance Limited.
  • Can I cancel my NRMA Travel insurance policy if I’m not happy with it?
    • You have a cooling-off period of 21 days to change your mind about whether or not you want to keep the policy. If cancelled within this period, you will receive a full refund.
