Best Noosa hotels on the beach

Noosa Heads main beach is where you'll find up-market accommodation costing an average of $300 a night. In exchange for these steep prices, you'll be able to enjoy private terraces with views over the Coral Sea, saltwater swimming pools and 5-star service.

The aptly named On The Beach Noosa Resort sits seconds away from the beach and Hastings Street and its famous shops and restaurants. Couples in particular rate this resort for its alfresco dining options, private balconies and in-suite spa facilities.

Another fantastically located luxury resort is Netanya, where private chefs and in-room spa treatments can be arranged.

If you're travelling with little ones, Seahaven Resort has one-, two- and three-bedroom, self-catered apartments, perfect for large groups. Better still, you'll be a short walk from both the beach and Noosa Woods, where hiking, botanical gardens and surf schools await.

Our top picks for hotels on the beach: On The Beach Noosa Resort, Seahaven Resort and Netanya Noosa.

Best 5-star Noosa hotels

5-star resorts are rife around Noosa. Some, like Sofitel's Noosa Pacific Resort, offer guests a central location, a short walk away from the beach and Hasting Street's restaurants and bars.

Others, like the RACV Noosa Resort, sit outside the hustle and bustle of the main town and overlook areas of natural beauty.

Set high above the rest of Noosa, Peppers Noosa Resort and Villa offers a compromise on its location. A good 30-minute walk from town, it offers guests a peaceful oasis from the crowds. But the views from both your private balcony and idyllic infinity pools are worth it.

Best cheap Noosa hotels

Despite the number of high-end resorts in the area, there are affordable places to get a good night's sleep.

Halse Lodge is one of those gems you don't expect to find in such a popular destination. Yet, here it is: a 10-minute walk from Noosa Heads main beach, Noosa National Park and Hastings Street and offering double rooms from $70.

If you're willing to share, Flashpackers offers an out-of-town location and dorm beds from $25.

Finally, if you have a car there are many low-cost hotels peppered around the streets that sit just out of town. Many are simple, self-catered apartments. Some even have a swimming pool.

We found the best value for money at Noosa Parade Holiday Inn, where one-bedroom apartments start from $90 a night.

Home to dog-friendly beaches, walking trails and pet-friendly cafes, Noosa is ideal for holidaying with your furry friend.

Dog Beach on Noosa Spit is one of the best places for your pooch to cool down in the sea. L'Auberge Apartments is one of the closest pet-friendly accommodation options to this fantastic beach. Its Courtyard Apartment is open to guests with small dogs.

Sitting on the east side of the city, Castaway Cove Resort offers pet owners access to quieter beaches, including Peregian Beach. With lower rates and spacious apartments, this is ideal for families who can't leave their extra member behind.

A bit further out of town, the Noosa Hinterland Retreat is one of the only luxury resorts that accommodates pets. Its private chalets offer all the serenity you'll need. And the fence surrounding the property lets your pets roam freely and safely.

Tired of staying in the same old hotels? Boutique stays a little on the pricey side? Then browse the listings on Airbnb and Stayz.

Properties cost an average of $150 a night in Noosa (although we found some for as cheap as $70 too) and often provide cosier surroundings and a fully equipped kitchen. That means you can enjoy a home-cooked meal during your stay.

Those taking in the east coast by road can stop at one of Noosa's well-equipped RV parks. Now, there aren't any within the town itself. However, there are options such as Noosa Caravan Park that sit within an easy drive of the Everglades and the northern beaches.
