Nokia 2.1

Nokia 2.1
  • Display

    5.5 inches

  • Storage

  • Battery size

    4,000 mAh

Buy at Telstra

The Nokia 2.1 has its limitations in processing power and camera quality, but its exceptional battery life and attractive design make it an easy recommendation for customers who only need light use from a mobile.

The good

  • Attractive design
  • Good battery life
  • Optimised Android Go apps

The bad

  • Generally poor app performance
  • Camera is slow

The Nokia 2.1 combines attractive design with the simplicity of Android Oreo Go, and the end result is spectacular value.

When HMD Global gave new life to Nokia in 2017, and attacked the budget smartphone market with a range of Android-based handsets, by and large they didn't thrill us. However, during 2018 HMD has released a number of new handsets at similar price points to last year's models that are just that bit more refined. The Nokia 6.1 was a great update to the Nokia 6, and the Nokia 3.1 improved on the Nokia 3 in mostly pleasing ways.

With the Nokia 2.1, HMD Global has taken that sharp refinement to the real budget end of its range, and the results are excellent for the price.

  • Removable back
  • 5.5-inch display
  • Aluminium frame gives a premium feel

  • Camera is a notable weak point

  • Android Go makes the most from a budget processor
  • A good match for basic smartphone users

Battery life

  • Great battery performance

  • A surprisingly stylish phone for very little money
  • Exceptional battery life makes it stand out
  • Not powerful, but good for those who just want basic functions

Does the 2.1 have an easily changed battery?
    Does it have Bluetooth?

      Hi Rick,

Thanks for getting in touch! It’s helpful to know that the Nokia 2.1’s back is removable, however, the battery is non-removable. It’s capacity is 4,000mAh. If you are a heavy user, batt life can last up to 1 1/2 days and for moderate users, 2 days max. Also, this phone is not fast charging nor offers wireless charging and needs to be charged the traditional way – with a cable. It also has Bluetooth connectivity of 4.2, A2DP, LE. Hope this was helpful. Don’t hesitate to message us back if you have more questions.

Can the ringtone for answering a call be extended longer?

      Hello Ted,

      Thank you for your comment.

If you’re referring to the Nokia 2.1 handset, since it is an Android Go Smartphone, you’ll need to make a note of and then dial a code involving your forwarding number.

Dial *#61#. It will display the number the calls are forwarded to and the current ring time. Write down the forwarding number.
Dial **61*+1xxxxxxxxxx*11*30# (where xxxxxxxxxx is the number displayed previously and 30 is the new ring time – you can pick 15, 20, 25 or 30).
Dial *#61# to check the new settings.

      Hope this helps.
