With the popularity of fitness classes skyrocketing over the past few years, a new type of athlete has been born. From spin classes to high-intensity interval training, working out can now mean a lot of different things, which is why sportswear giant Nike has created a footwear line to cater to fitness class lovers.
Release date: Air Zoom SuperRep – 2 January, Air Zoom SuperRep Go – April 2020, Air Zoom SuperRep Cycle – Unknown
Where to buy: In-store and online at Nike
Starting in January 2020, Nike will release three sneaker iterations as part of a new range titled SuperRep. Each style will be a reimagined version of the classic Air Zoom silhouette, with each one designed for a different type of workout.
First up, the Air Zoom SuperRep features forefront cushioning and additional arch support for quick-burst, forceful movements like burpees, squats and side lunges, making them perfect for fans of HIIT. The kicks will arrive in two shades of dusty pink and navy blue and will drop on 2 January.
The Air Zoom SuperRep Cycle will meanwhile be made available sometime in April. The black and red clip-in sneakers provide additional support for those who regularly hit the bikes.
Finally, a lightweight, black and white Air Zoom SuperRep Go model has been created for mat-based activities like yoga or low-impact workouts. A release date is yet to be announced.
In a statement, vice president and general manager of Nike training, Jamie Jeffries said, "Fitness classes are booming around the world. Working out is its own sport, and Nike's SuperRep shoes are designed to deliver on the performance needs specific to these activities."
