Nike LeBron 17 Space Jam sneaker pack: First look and release date
The Tune Squad takes on The Monstars once again in this quirky new collection.
If you tought you taw news of a Nike x Space Jam collaboration, you tought correctly. In celebration of the NBA All-Star Weekend and LeBron's upcoming appearance in Space Jam 2, the sportswear brand has revamped its LeBron 17 sneaker in two new designs reminiscent of your favourite childhood film.
Whether you were team Tune Squad or team Monstars, Nike has a style to suit, with each one serving as the inspiration behind the kicks.
The Monstars design arrives in a purple and black knit upper with multi-coloured pops showing through, giving the shoe a scaly appearance. The number 0 appears on the lace overlays, referencing the jersey number that each of the Monstars sported during the epic basketball match.
Mismatched orange and purple tongues, plastic purple midsoles and galaxy-themed insoles complete the look.
The "Monstars" sneakers are set to drop on 14 February at basketball apparel store Throwback from 10am (AEDT). We're also hoping to see them land on the Australian Nike SNKRS site at around the same time, so keep an eye out.
The pair will be available in both adults' and kids' sizing, with the adult pricing set at $270.
If you're more of a Looney Tune, you'll also be able to get your hands on a Tune Squad pair from Nike and Foot Locker come 15 February.
The design takes on the Squad's white, red and blue colourway, with a white mesh upper forming the base of the shoe. A blue midsole is contrasted with a bright red Air unit, while bright red laces and blue eye stays continue the theme.
The most notable part of the design though comes in the form of the iconic Swoosh on the side panels. The blue and red tick gets a furry grey upgrade in a tribute to Tune Squad star, Bugs Bunny.
The familiar "What's Up, Doc?" quote appears on the inner tongue, while LeBron's crown logo is featured in a tilted cartoon style on the heel.
If you're keen to get kitted out in the entire outfit, we've also had a glimpse at basketball jerseys and shorts for each team. While there's no word on an Australian release date yet, we're assuming the pieces will drop around the same time as the sneakers, so keep your eyes peeled.
