Nike Air x Fear of God 1 String

Nike and Fear of God are kicking off the year with a new colourway of their highly-coveted basketball shoe.

In the latest news from the Swoosh, the mega sportswear brand has once again teamed up with the founder of Fear Of God, Jerry Lorenzo, for a new iteration of the Fear of God 1.

Release date: 28 February (US)

Price: US$350

Where to buy: Nike, Farfetch, Overkill

The high-top "sneakerboot" construction has been hugely popular amongst basketball fans and sneaker lovers alike ever since it first dropped. The design manages to blur the line between a basketball performance model and a luxury streetwear sneaker, making each colourway a guaranteed sell-out.

Each pair features double-stacked Zoom Air units near the heel, a sculpted midsole and lacing that wraps around the ankle. The silhouette has already been released in several colourways, with a new model titled "String" the latest to draw a huge amount of hype.

Dubbed "Cream Toes" by Lorenzo himself, the new style features an "Oatmeal" shade on the toe box, with a darker beige hue colouring the reinforced toe tip. A black ballistic mesh meanwhile appears on the vamp and continues through to the ankle.

While the pair was originally scheduled to drop on 10 February, the release date has now been pushed back to 28 February. While there's no word yet on an Australian release date, the pair will be available from the US Nike site as well as from American stockists like Farfetch and Overkill come the 28th.

When they do hit our shores, we can expect them to be available first on the Australian Nike site.

In addition to the "String" colourway, Nike has now revealed that a "Black Suede" model is also on its way. The kicks feature a solid black tone throughout, complete with tonal stitching and black rope laces.

They are rumoured to release in both adults' and kids' sizes from 14 February for US$350.
