Nike Adapt BB 2.0 sneakers

Nike's smart technology sneakers get an upgrade with this brand new design.

Update: The Nike Adapt BB 2.0 sneakers are set to drop tomorrow (17 February) on the US Nike site for US$400. There are already several pairs listed on StockX though, with prices starting at around $500.

While there's no word yet on when Australian stockists will get them, we should see them arrive on the Australian Nike site in the coming weeks.

The Nike Adapt BBs might just have been one of the biggest sneaker releases to come out of 2019. The smart, self-lacing kicks took the sneaker world to new terrain with their amalgamation of fashion and technology and now the label is stepping things up yet another notch with a new version slated for release later this year.

Release date: 16 February (US)

Price: US$400

Where to buy: Nike, StockX

Titled Adapt BB 2.0, the style of the new addition is notably different from its predecessor. A stretchable, ballistic mesh replaces the original Flyknit upper to make the shoes easier to take on and off, while a larger, pixelated Swoosh dominates the forefront. An icy outsole paired with bright red accents meanwhile works to add a pop of colour to the shoe.

The innovative power lacing system that made the sneakers so popular has also had an update. The technology provides the wearer with a snug and secure fit that can be adjusted through the accompanying app. The app also features other customisation options, similar to the first model, including control of the colour of the lights on the midsole.

The updates have been designed to enhance on-court play by improving on the core design principles introduced by the first model. This includes the addition of a moulded heel piece above the midsole for increased ankle support and Zoom Cushioning at the forefront for a bouncier feel.
