2022 Range Rover SV is highly customisable

2022 Range Rover SV has mind-boggling number of customisation options.

Like to customise a vehicle to your exact tastes? The 2022 Range Rover SV has approximately 1.6 million configuration permutations.

What can I customise on the 2022 Range Rover SV?

When buying the range-topping SV, you can drastically tailor the aesthetics and styling.

  • Individual paint options. When purchasing a Range Rover SV, buyers may select a standard Range Rover paint finish or 1 of the 14 SV-exclusive palette colours. There is a mixture of gloss or satin finishes available too. Range Rover also gives prospective buyers 2 contrasting roof options: black or bronze. Finally, for those who want a specific colour replicating, Range Rover can match almost any colour from a sample.
  • SV wheels. The attention to detail demonstrated by the Special Vehicle Operation's design team is most evident on the wheels. There are 13 different wheel variations to pick from. One of the wheel options has a triple-finish applied. These 23-inch, diamond-turned dark grey alloy wheels are handed (meaning their 10-directional spokes are symmetrical across both sides of the vehicle and always "point" forwards) and buyers can pair them with 3-coloured inserts: satin silver, gloss black or a very neat-looking satin bronze.

2022 Range Rover SV: SWB cabin

  • Ceramics. The SV features ceramics, but not the brakes – as you often think of with a high-end car. On the Range Rover SV, buyers can choose a ceramic gear shifter, as well as select buttons in the cabin. These are baked at a super high temperature of 1,500°C. The resulting buttons can be diamond-polished or abrasive blasted - for a gloss, or satin finish. Range Rover says this takes 10 weeks to complete. Range Rover has also added ceramic coatings as an optional extra to interior trim pieces in place of metal or wood accents. Even the SV badge is made from ceramic material.

Range Rover SV: Wenge marquetry

  • Interior marquetry. If you're not familiar with marquetry, it's the process of taking intricate wood veneer pieces and assembling them like a giant jigsaw to produce patterns or designs. Range Rover SV buyers can order laser-cut, hand-arranged marquetry trim for interior trim panels. On the long-wheelbase, 4-seater Range Rover SV (with SV Signature Suite option), the rear fridge door and deployable club table have matching marquetry. Range Rover uses a Forest Stewardship Council-certified wenge hardwood.

2022 Range Rover SV: Leather seat upholstery

  • Supple leathers, or alternatives. The standard Range Rover SV trim features aniline leather, unique-to-the-grade seat contouring and embroidered patterning. Caraway "near-aniline" is another alternative, which Range Rover states is furniture-grade. The leather promises to be softer and more natural. Range Rover manages to waste 10% less of each hide thanks to improved techniques. For those who want a leather alternative, Range Rover is premiering a polyurethane-based material called Ultrafabrics. They come in a choice of 2 grey tones. To the touch, Range Rover explains it feels like leather, but reduces the CO2 emissions from manufacturing by 75%. It's almost one-third lighter than leather too.

2022 Range Rover SV: Club table

  • Design themes. Special Vehicle Operations also sells the Range Rover SV in 7 different "design themes". You could think of these as pre-configured builds. They each possess a unique look thanks to a sophisticated blend of paint colours, interior upholstery and wheels.

  • Engines. Range Rover SV buyers can select either a plug-in hybrid engine, a V8 twin-turbo powerplant or an inline-6 diesel.
  • Body styles. Range Rover builds the SV as a standard or long wheelbase. The latter has an optional 5-seat configuration for the first time.

When is the 2022 Range Rover SV coming to Australia?
