Tigerair has kick-started 2017 with a new sale featuring flights within Australia from $39 each way.
The lead-in fares are available on the Melbourne-Hobart route, as in most of the budget carrier’s recent sales, with the next-cheapest route being Adelaide-Melbourne for $45 and Sydney-Gold Coast for $45.
A total of 36 routes are discounted.
Travel dates vary slightly depending on the destination, with availability ranging from 19 April until 28 June.
Fares don’t include extras like checked bags, seat selection or food/drink in-flight. These can be added on for an additional cost.
This sale comes just over a week after Tigerair launched a post-Boxing Day 2-for-1 sale, which featured more than 15,000 seats discounted to as low as $24.50, including Melbourne-Hobart, if travelling with groups of two. In early December, the airline also offered a $30-$60-$90 sale, where short-haul flights were available from $30, medium-haul for $60 and long-haul for $90.
While fares aren’t as low as previous sales, compared to other market fares Tigerair’s prices are the best available. Jetstar is currently charging $45 for the Melbourne-Hobart route and $59 for Adelaide-Melbourne flights during the same time period.
Tigerair’s New Year Sale ends at noon AEDT on Saturday 7 January.
