Hot destinations. So to speak.

Budget airline Scoot knows what people want, and by popular demand has launched two new routes, flying from Singapore to two of the world's most magical winter wonderlands, Sapporo in Japan and Harbin in China. The Sapporo service starts on 3 November 2017, while the Harbin flights will be taking off on 1 December 2017.

"Much as Singaporeans love the tropical delights of our sunny island nation, the allure of winter is undeniably compelling!" exclaimed Scoot CEO Mr Lee Lik Hsin in a prepared statement. "We've gotten many requests from guests to fly to more winter destinations, and Harbin tops the list, so we’re pleased to finally be flying there. Our Singapore-Taipei-Sapporo services have also been a crowd-pleaser since launch, but in response to feedback, we will be launching additional non-stop Singapore-Sapporo services in the winter peak season!"

These flights will be taking off from Singapore, but the exceptional value will doubtless extend all the way to Australia, with no shortage of cheap flights running between Australia and Singapore, and many of the cheapest ones coming courtesy of Scoot.

From 4 September to 6 September you'll be able to access discounted launch fares, with one way fares from Singapore starting at a delightful $158 to Harbin, and $199 to Sapporo. Odds are, some of the cheapest winter wonderland flights from Australia to Harbin and Australia to Sapporo will be the result of this announcement.

Sapporo is home to some of the world's best skiing resorts, in particular Niseko which has become something of a home-away-from-home for Australians in particular, drawn there by the deep, dry powder. Harbin, meanwhile, is famed for its winter festivals and year-round ice sculptures. Whenever you see someone marveling at a intricately carved multi-storey ice sculpture, there's a good chance they're in Harbin.

These flights are going to make things a lot cheaper and easier for Australians chasing winter, so spare some thanks for the great taste of all the Scoot regulars who voted them in.

If you want to get to either Harbin or Sapporo in 2017, it's almost certainly worth finding a way to Singapore for those fantastic introductory fares.
