MVNO amaysim returns to its budget roots with low-data plans starting at just $10.

In the smartphone plan space, data is king, at least for most Australian consumers. Most of us simply can't get enough data, with many Australians regularly going over quota as we feed our insatiable appetites.

However, not everybody feels this way. For some, the attraction of a mobile phone service is far more in the realm of calls and texts. It's to that market that MVNO amaysim is pitching its newest plans. According to its figures, while some of us are data hogs, around 50% of Australian mobile users actually consume less than 1GB per month of data, meaning any additional data is just wasted cash on data not actually being used up.

As a result, its new plans are low on data and low on price, starting at just $10 per recharge with unlimited standard national calls and textsand 1GB of data, with a slight uptick version available at $20 per recharge with the same call and text inclusions as well as 2.5GB of data. Both plans operate on a 28 day expiry schedule on the Optus 4G Plus network. Here's how amaysim's plans compare:

$20Unlimited2.5GB28 days

The plans are in addition to amaysim's existing SIM-only plans, so if you're a fan of more data, don't stress, because those options are still very much available to you as well. Along with launching an online device store, amaysim has also recently branched out into energy plans as well.
