New on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus, Stan, Foxtel, BINGE and more in April 2022

What's new on Netflix April 2022

Netflix is saying farewell to Ozark and Grace and Frankie this month, as well as welcoming new seasons of Russian Doll, Selling Sunset and Elite. In the mood for something new? Keep an eye out for Heartstopper, a coming-of-age series about 2 teen boys who realise that their unlikely friendship might be something more. It's based on the wildly popular series of graphic novels penned by Alice Oseman.

Movie buffs have plenty to look forward to in April. Like The Bubble, a comedy about a group of actors stuck inside a pandemic bubble trying to complete a film about flying dinosaurs. Or Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood, a sweet animation directed by Richard Linklater centred around the Apollo 11 moon landing. Or Metal Lords, about 2 kids who dream of starting a heavy metal band.

What's new on Disney Plus

Disney Plus continues to roll out weekly episodes of Marvel series Moon Knight, which sees Oscar Isaac play a man with dissociative identity disorder. If you've missed Kim and company, the family's new reality series titled The Kardashians premieres as a Star original on 14 April.

For something more family-friendly, original movie Better Nate Than Ever centres on a kid who dreams of becoming a big Broadway musical star. April also brings users Scrat Tales – a series of animated shorts starring the squirrel from the Ice Age movies.

What's new on BINGE and Foxtel

Over on BINGE, we're looking forward to season 2 of The Flight Attendant, the kooky thriller series starring Kaley Cuoco. We Own This City also looks like a small dunk – coming from the producers of The Wire, it's a thriller about the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department's Gun Trace Task Force.

Barry, Mayans M.C. and Gentleman Jack return with new seasons, while new series Julia is inspired by the life of television chef Julia Child. All these titles will be on Foxtel as well. If you missed Space Jam: A New Legacy, it arrives on both services starting 13 April.

What's new on Stan

Stan is bringing subscribers intriguing series Gaslit, which promises to offer a new take on the Watergate Scandal. It stars Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, which is reason enough to tune in. The sixth and final season of Better Call Saul premieres on 19 April, bringing Jimmy McGill's story to an epic conclusion.

Looking to sample from more genres in April? The Box is an intense psychological thriller, while Killing It is a rag-to-riches comedy about capitalism. Both look like a good time.

What's new on Amazon Prime Video

Reality TV fans, rejoice! Season 2 of Luxe Listings Sydney premieres on Prime Video on 1 April and promises to dazzle with more lavish properties from the Sydney area. This time around, Gavin Rubinstein, D'Leanne Lewis and Simon Cohen will be joined by Monika Tu, an agent known for leading the revolution of global buyers into the Australian property market.

Also on Prime Video this month: Josh Brolin stars in mind-bending western Outer Range and A Very British Scandal tackles the divorce of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll. For something lighter, The Outlaws is a crime comedy about a group of strangers who have to do community service together and stumble upon a bag of cash.

What's new on Paramount Plus

On Paramount Plus, it's time to get hyped for The Offer – a miniseries about the development of Francis Ford Coppola's landmark gangster film The Godfather. The biographical drama has an incredible cast featuring Miles Teller, Matthew Goode, Juno Temple, Dan Fogler, Colin Hanks, Giovanni Ribisi, Justin Chambers and more.

Another new show to look out for is The First Lady, which revolves around the women at the heart of the White House. Viola Davis stars as Michelle Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer plays Betty Ford and Gillian Anderson portrays Eleanor Roosevelt.

If you have kids, Paw Patrol: The Movie drops on Paramount Plus on 12 April. This month will also see the release of iCarly season 2 and bring subscribers new episodes of Rugrats.

What's new on BritBox, AcornTV, hayu, SBS and ABC

For fans of British telly, BritBox is dropping The Cleaner, a hilarious comedy about a forensic cleaner starring Greg Davies, Helena Bonham Carter, Zita Sattar and David Mitchell. More into crime dramas? Redemption revolves around a detective looking into the murder of her daughter, who had been missing for 2 decades.

On Acorn TV, check out original series Harry Wild, which stars Jane Seymour as a retiring university literature professor contemplating one of life's crossroads. Horror fans should whoop for Cursed Films II, season 2 of the acclaimed original Shudder series.

AMC+, meanwhile, debuts 61st Street, a propulsive thriller revolving around the Chicago criminal justice system. April highlights on reality platform hayu include new true crime series Final Moments, The Real Housewives of Potomac: Karen's Grand Dame Reunion and season 2 of Dating No Filter UK.

Don't worry, there's plenty of free content available just a few clicks away. SBS On Demand is premiering Servant of the People, a political satire comedy starring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Over on ABC iView, new show Barons introduces viewers to a surf-crazed group of hippy friends who turn their backs on the world in search of their ideal patch of surfing paradise.
