New on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus, Stan, BINGE, Foxtel and more in June 2023

Now's your chance to add to your binge-watching list as we head into winter and more couch time.

As the temperatures start dropping for winter, you might be more inclined to stay warm and cosy indoors instead of venturing out into the cold.

Thankfully June has plenty new to offer for streaming enthusiasts in search of quality entertainment.

So grab a blanket, some popcorn, your warm beverage of choice and snuggle up to what's coming to your screen this month.

What's new on Netflix in June 2023

There are plenty of returning favourites this month on Netflix. The Witcher is back for part 1 of season 3, which will be the final season featuring Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt of Rivia before Liam Hemsworth takes over the role. Sci-fi anthology series Black Mirror is also due for its return this month, with its new season featuring many big name stars including Aaron Paul, Salma Hayek Pinault and Zazie Beetz among others. It's also the fourth and final season of Never Have I Ever, as senior year arrives and the students have to face the future.

You're in luck if you like sports docos, as Netflix delivers Tour de France: Unchained based on the world's most famous cycling race, and part 2 of its behind the scenes look at up and coming tennis players in Break Point. As always, no matter what your interest, you can probably find a new doco streaming on Netflix, from Arnold about the life of Arnold Schwarzenegger, nature documentary Our Planet II, or Muscles & Mayhem: An Unauthorized Story of American Gladiators.

Netflix has a strong movie line up too in June. Chris Hemsworth returns from the brink of death as commando Tyler Rake in action blockbuster Extraction 2. Meanwhile Sarah Snook, coming off the big Succession finale, stars in Run Rabbit Run, an Australian psychological horror thriller about a doctor that's frightened by her young daughter's inexplicable memories of a past identity.

What's new on BINGE and Foxtel in June 2023

Coming to BINGE and Foxtel Now in June is HBO's next big show, The Idol from Euphoria's Sam Levinson. The show centres around a cult leader's romance with an up-and-coming pop star. It features an all-star cast including Abel Tesfaye (who used to perform under the stage name The Weeknd and is also one of the co-creators), Lily-Rose Depp and Aussie pop star Troye Sivan.

Another new show to look out for is a dark comedy called Based on a True Story. It stars Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina as a married couple who decide to capitalise on America's obsession with true crime in a bid to turn their lives around and save their marriage.

Based on Nick Hornby's novel Funny Girl, the series Funny Woman sees a pageant winner in the 1960s set her sights on a career in comedy.

There are plenty of much-loved shows returning as well, including new seasons of And Just Like That..., The Righteous Gemstones, Warrior and Outlander.

If you're after some new movies, BINGE and Foxtel Now have got you covered with some standouts including Violent Night, DC League of Super-Pets, Smile and She Said.

For Foxtel subscribers only, you'll also get a new season of The Great Australian Bake Off, with new judges Rachel Khoo and Darren Purchese at the helm, joined by co-hosts Cal Wilson and Natalie Tran.

What's new on Stan in June 2023

Stan debuts the original series Year Of in June, which is a spin-off of its successful show Bump. Year Of is the story of a group of inner-city teens and the ups and downs during the final 2 years of high school. The students have to navigate a tragic event that upturns each of their lives forever.

Look out for a couple more entries in Stan's original documentary series, Revealed this june. Revealed: Reefshot is the story of the race to save the Great Barrier Reef from climate change, while Revealed: The Cape is an intimate portrayal of an isolated community touched and forever changed by the disappearance of a boy and his father 20 years earlier. If you're in the mood for more documentaries, you should also check out Paul T. Goldman, an American true crime documentary miniseries that revolves around Paul Finkelman, a man who uncovers fraud and deception caused by his ex-wife.

If you'd like something lighter-paced, Stan will have both seasons 1 and 2 of Son of a Critch, a comedic take on the classic coming-of-age story based on the childhood and adolescence of Mark Critch.

On the movie front, you can see Brendan Fraser in his Oscar-winning role of The Whale, where he plays a reclusive, morbidly obese English teacher attempting to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter. There also happens to be a lot for boxing fans on Stan in June too, with the movies Ali and Southpaw, plus documentary Facing Ali also among titles coming to the service.

What's new on Prime Video in June 2023

Be on the lookout for original Australian series Deadloch this month on Prime Video. Comedians Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan have put together the series where 2 vastly different women detectives are thrown together to solve the murder of a local man in what was once a sleepy seaside hamlet.

Another release with Australian connections is The Defenders, which tells the true story of Hakeem al-Araibi, a Bahraini footballer turned political refugee. Hakeem was accused of terrorist activity and a team of human rights activists, social media personalities and ordinary Australians launch a campaign to save him, led by former Socceroos captain Craig Foster.

Meanwhile, another new series is I'm A Virgo, a darkly comedic fantastical coming-of-age joyride about a 13-foot-tall young Black man.

You can bid farewell to a favourite show this month on Prime Video, as Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan returns for its fourth and final season. John Krasinski's titular character faces an enemy both foreign and domestic. There will also be returning seasons of The Lake, With Love and The Grand Tour.

Prime doesn't disappoint if you're after some move picks instead. Guy Ritchie's The Covenant follows the relationship between a US Army Sergeant and an Afghan interpreter, while Michael B. Jordan returns in Creed III, hitting streaming for the first time after its cinema run. Adonis Creed has been thriving in both his career and family life, but puts his future on the line to face off against a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy.

What's new on Disney Plus in June 2023

There are some big events happening on Disney Plus this June. For one, it sees the arrival of the biggest new films of the last 6 months onto streaming with Avatar: The Way of Water. The movie is set more than a decade after the events of the original Avatar. It launches the story of the Sully family as well as introducing new Na'vi cultures and a range of exotic sea creatures. For a movie that would be a complete change of pace, keep an eye out for Flamin' Hot coming in June. With elements of comedy and drama, it tells the story of Richard Montañez, a snack food company janitor who channelled his Mexican-American heritage and upbringing to turn the iconic Flamin' Hot Cheetos into a snack that has since become a global pop culture phenomenon.

Another big event is coming for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with new series Secret Invasion. Nick Fury learns of an invasion on earth by a faction of shapeshifting aliens called Skrulls and attempts to stop it and save the planet. You can expect the return of familiar stars from MCU such as Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman and Don Cheadle, plus it will also introduce new characters from Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman. Om tje same beat, you can also look out for the documentary Stan Lee this month dedicated to the icon's impact on the Marvel universe.

If a suspenseful, thriller limited series is more your thing, then you should check out Class of 09. Spanning multiple decades and told across interweaving timelines, it follows a class of FBI agents set in 3 distinct points in time who acclimate and grapple with immense changes as the US criminal justice system is altered by artificial intelligence. It involves some quality actors including Brian Tyree Henry and Kate Mara. If that interests you, you should also keep a look out for Saint X, a psychological drama that is also told via multiple timelines and perspectives.

The Full Monty is another movie to make the leap to a TV show, which will also premiere on Disney Plus in June. The series takes place 25 years after the original movie, following the same working class group of men as they negotiate where they still live in Sheffield. Most of the main cast from the movie are reprising their roles here for the show.

What's new on Paramount Plus in June 2023

Some favourites are returning on Paramount Plus in June with brand new episodes of iCarly, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Joe Pickett and Queen of the Universe. There's also the final season of Nancy Drew.

Look out too for documentary Dead Hot: Season Of The Witch. It follows 2 self-taught students of witchcraft, actress Vanessa Hudgens and Australian musician GG Magree, and captures their intimate journey into the supernatural realm.

There's also a new Australian limited series The Betoota Advocate Presents. The satirical news site is branching out into TV with a show about Australia's most polarising news stories such as Super League and the Fine Cotton Affair.

It's also a good month to be a Bruce Springsteen fan on Paramount Plus as you get not 1, not 2, but 3 titles featuring him dropping on the service. For a slightly different pace catch the documentary Wings For Wheels: The Making Of Born To Run, as well as 2 concert films - Live In New York City and The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concert.

What's new on BritBox, Hayu, Apple TV Plus and more in June 2023

The pick of what's coming to Apple TV Plus in June is Hijack, a thriller series told in real time about a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a 7-hour flight as authorities on the ground scramble for answers.

You can relive the UK's biggest manhunt when BritBox delivers The Hunt for Raoul Moat. Based on a true story, this drama is about the search for nightclub bouncer Raoul Moat after he shot 3 people, looking at the incompetence of the police and the role of the media.

On Hayu, it's the return of The Real Housewives of Orange County. This season sees Tamra Judge back after her firing from the show in 2020, and based on her past form, definitely don't expect her to return quietly.

Over on AMC Plus, there's docuseries True Crime Story: Look into My Eyes, which looks at the true story of Dr George Kenney, a beloved principal at a high school in Florida where he practiced hypnosis on students, and the suspicious deaths of 3 students.

You can once again get your monthly dose of horror on Shudder. The highlight for June is Terrifier 2, the sequel to the cult hit Terrifier. The murderous Art the Clown is back to once again strike fear into a small town on Halloween.

New original romantic crime series Cannes Confidential comes to Acorn TV in June. It centres on a local cop and an ex-conman forced into an unlikely crime-fighting partnership, which turns out to be surprisingly successful.
