We take a look at hotels that have just opened, hotels that are in the works and major hotel changes across the globe.


Just opened: Andaz Singapore, Andaz

Andaz Singapore opened last week as the first Andaz hotel in Southeast Asia and the 17th in the world.

The hotel features 342 rooms in a prime location tucked between Little India, Marina Bay, Kampong Glam and the entertainment district of Bras Basah Bugis. The property has opened as a part of DUO, a pair of skyscrapers belonging to a development that includes retail, residence and office spaces.

The modern building includes features such as an outdoor swimming pool on the 25th floor, a 24-hour fitness centre, four dining and drinking venues, Andaz Lounge for complimentary drinks and stunning city views from the rooftop bar.

Just opened: Staybridge Suites Silao, Guanajuato

The first Intercontinental Hotels Group hotel in the Mexican state of Guanajuato was opened last week in Puerto Interior, home to the largest business park.

Over 8 floors, 121 rooms make up a combination of suites that are studios and 1 and 2 bedroom suites. Each is equipped with a full-kitchen, executive desk and sofa bed.

The property has amenities that include an outdoor pool and patio area, 24-hour fitness and business centres and a multi use sports facility.

Just opened: Renaissance Hotel Downtown, Dubai

The grand opening of the Renaissance Hotel Downtown in Dubai’s Business Bay District last week.

The hotel boasts 298 guestrooms, 16 of which are suites that showcase views of the city skyline. The rooms are modern but are designed with an Arabic twist.

On-site are six restaurants, an outdoor pool, fitness centre and spa with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Burj Khalifa.


Just opened: Golden Tulip Shanghai Rainbow, Shanghai

The flagship hotel for Gold Tulip, a Louvre Hotels Group and Jin Jiang International brand, opened last week in the Hongqiao development zone.

Guests of the 600 new modern rooms will have amenities that include four restaurants, two bars, conference spaces, and the brand new Body Care Bar where guests can choose their own free spa amenities.

The lobby is multifunctional as a bar and an open area for guests to relax in.


Just opened: The Troubadour New Orleans, New Orleans

The Troubadour New Orleans opened last week under Hilton’s newest brand, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. It’s the first of three hotels under the brand that will open in southern US cities.

The boutique hotel is home to 184 guestrooms in the Central Business District along the Mississippi River. The hotel is located only a short walk from the French Quarter and joins a number of other upscale Hilton properties in the city.

The Petit Lion, a casual bistro style restaurant and a rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city, is on-site and available to guests and visitors. A 24-hour fitness centre and digital check-in are also available.


Just opened: InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong, Hong Kong

InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong has reopened after a USD$43 million renovation.

572 guestrooms have been updated with a new sleek design and modern user-friendly technology. Over 40% of the rooms have views of Victoria Harbour through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Amenities on-site include four restaurants and bars, meeting spaces, health and beauty facilities, outdoor heated pool, gym and a spa.

EasyHotel to open two new properties in Holland

The ultra budget hotel chain EasyHotel is opening two new properties in Holland in late 2018. Holland is the chain's’ second most popular region after the UK and the opening of these properties will make for seven hotels in the Netherlands. The hotels will open in The Hague Scheveningen Beach area and in Maastricht city centre.

Sydney airport hotel to get a Mad Men twist

Set to open in early 2018, the Felix Hotel by 8Hotels will be revamped with a 1960s airline twist. The theme will be presented throughout the hotel with room types such as first class, business, premium economy and economy. The hotel is located a five minute drive from the Sydney Domestic Airport and 10 minutes from the international airport.
