We take a look at hotels that have just opened, hotels that are in the works and major hotel changes across the globe.


Just opened: Delta Hotels by Marriott Shanghai Baoshan, Shanghai

Delta Hotels opens its first property in the Asia-Pacific with Delta Hotels by Marriott Shanghai Baoshan in the waterfront district of Baoshan.

The 339 room property features a Georgian-inspired facade and is just a 5-minute drive from the cruise terminal. Each room has high ceilings and premium bath amenities.

There are three restaurants on-site ranging from traditional Cantonese cuisine, steaks and an American style all day dining restaurant. A bar, grand ballroom, fitness centre and indoor swimming pool are also available.


Just opened: Hyatt Place Frankfurt Airport, Frankfurt

The Hyatt Place brand debuted its first hotel last week in Frankfurt, opening a 4-star stylish hotel that is within minutes walking distance to the airport and a quick 10-minute ride into the city centre.

The modern 312 room hotel has spacious rooms with a high-tech environment. Many rooms feature pull out sofa beds for families.

On-site amenities include a 24-hour gym, breakfast and five venues for meetings and events.


Just opened: Ani Villas, Rio San Juan, Dominican Republic

Ani Villas Dominican Republic opened late last year on the island’s north coast in Rio San Juan. The private luxury resort is secluded in its own peninsula.

12 of the 14 villas are ocean facing with unobstructed views. The water surrounds three sides of the resort with dramatic windows and sunken terraces off of the villas.

The villas surround a single open living and dining space where guests can find beverages, tanning decks and infinity pools. 3 spa therapists are on-site and dinners are made by local chefs who are internationally trained. Lastly, the resort also boasts two private beaches.


Just opened:Jaz Stuttgart, Stuttgart

The modern, hip, casual and trendy Jaz Stuttgart by Jaz in the City opened in the new year, the debut for the brand in Germany.

On top of your standard mod-cons, the hotel includes extras such as a yoga kit. The property features 166 rooms and technology that allows guests to use their smartphones as their room key.

Local music influences much of the design of the hotel, the creative menus and more. You’ll be able to catch live music here, drinks on the rooftop and city views.

Opening soon: The Residence Bintan, Bintan Island

On the south-eastern shores of Bintan Island along the pristine beaches Cenizaro Hotels & Resorts opens in Indonesia next month.

This 127-key luxury resort embraces simplicity and offers panoramic views of the South China Sea. Each villa has a view of the gardens or the sea and each are secluded.

The resort is a place of relaxation where an award-winning spa will be on-site, traditional Indonesian and Pan-Asian cuisine are available at the on-site restaurants and yoga sessions are open to all guests. A pool, beach access and a kids’ club are some other amenities.

Opening soon: HOTEL MAMÁ, Palma de Mallorca, Spain

HOTEL MAMÁ is set to open this spring in the historic quarter Plaza De Cort in the European spring.

The small property boasts 32 rooms and is designed by Parisian interior designer, Jacques Grange, who is considered one of the best in the world.

The hotel will be a statement to luxury and 5-star service with amenities such as a rooftop pool, spa, gym, a sunny patio, cafe, restaurant and cinema.

$20 million luxury property to open in Tasmania

Baillie Lodges has announced plans for a $20 million luxury wilderness retreat to open in Australia in 2020. The retreat will adjoin Tasman National Park.

Mövenpick Resort Lang Co expands in Vietnam

Located along Vietnam’s tropical central coast, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts plans to open an upscale property by the end of the year. The beachfront location will have rooms, suites and luxury villas along the white sand beach. Amenities will include a pool, 18-hole golf course, kids’ club and more.
