A weekly round-up of new hotel openings around the world.

We take a look at hotels that have just opened, hotels that are in the works and major hotel changes across the globe.


Just opened: Sage Hotel Ringwood, Melbourne

Located at the gateway to the Yarra Valley, the 4-star Sage Hotel Ringwood opened its doors last week offering a boutique stay for business, leisure and family travellers.

The 120 rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and span the five floors that sit on top of Eastland Shopping Centre.

The location gives guests close access to Yarra Valley's wineries, shopping and restaurants.


Just opened: InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay, Singapore

Set along the Singapore River in the sophisticated neighbourhood of Robertson Quay is Singapore’s latest luxury hotel.

Surrounded by dining and art houses its 225 studios and suites sit alongside an expansive penthouse and features stunning views over the river.

Amenities include meeting rooms, lap pool, fitness centre and on-site restaurant and bar serving Italian cuisine.


Just opened: Sokha Siem Reap Hotel & Convention Centre, Siem Reap

Cambodia’s largest luxury resort hosted its grand opening last week in Siem Reap alongside its attached convention centre.

Across both properties are 1,242 rooms, suites and villas. Traditional Cambodian design is paired with modern amenities for a comfortable stay with 5-star facilities. Its central location makes it only minutes away from the world famous Angkor Wat.

Resort amenities include the largest salt water swimming pool in Siem Reap which features an LED screen so you can watch a film in inflatable chairs from the pool.


Just opened: Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka

Marriott opened the brand's first hotel in Sri Lanka last week. It features prime beachfront location and a banquet space for 2000 people, making it ideal for events.

The hotel boasts over 200 rooms featuring private balconies overlooking Weligama Bay. A kids indoor activity centre is available plus a spa, outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre.


Just opened: Hyatt Place Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor, Michigan

The college town of Ann Arbor welcomed the latest hotel, Hyatt Place Ann Arbor last week.

The hotel features 142 guest rooms across six storeys. Amenities include an indoor pool, fitness centre, and 24/7 entertainment room.

It is pet-friendly, has free self-parking, meeting and event spaces plus breakfast is included.

Opening soon: Overlook Lodge by Cervo, Zermatt

Nestled in the trees of Zermatt, Overlook Lodge by CERVO is the latest 5-star alpine resort offering a luxurious home away from home.

It has an exclusive feel and views of the Matterhorn from its five apartments. The decor is Alpine-inspired and rooms feature fully furnished kitchens and comfortable Hästens beds.

Arrival and departure transfers are included with your stay as well as a heated ski closet, concierge service and Wi-Fi.

Opening soon: Kempinski Hotel Muscat, Oman

Oman’s capital welcomes the latest luxury hotel in the Al Mouj district along 2 kilometres of sandy coastline next year.

The hotel comprises of 310 rooms, including 40 suites and two presidential suites each with their own private swimming pool. An additional 77 serviced apartments is available for longer stays.

The highlight of the hotel is destined to be its 18-hole golf course, which is Oman’s only signature PGA course. When complete, the hotel will also be home to Oman’s largest yacht club.

Perth to get a Ritz-Carlton hotel in mid-2019

With the growing popularity of Perth to international visitors the city is set to receive a Ritz-Carlton hotel which is progressing quickly with a quarter of the property already built. Hotel guestrooms, suites and residential apartments will be housed within the 28-storey tower, just 30 metres from the water.

Mercure Perth undergoes colourful renovation

Mercure Perth has transformed with upgrades and vibrant colours as a part of its $1 million refurbishment. The bright and energetic feel reflects its location in the heart of the city. On top of updating the 239 guestrooms, the rooftop leisure playground, sundeck, heated pool and hot tub have also been upgraded.
