Just opened: Mercure Maldives Kooddoo, Maldives
AccorHotels opened a midscale resort on the Gaafu Alifu Atoll in the Maldives to offer guests a full value hotel without the large price tag.
A mixture of 68 over-the-water and beach villas make up the resort. On-site 5-star PADI diving courses are offered among other water sports such as snorkeling, sailing and kayaking. There is also a lagoon side swimming pool and tennis courts on the resort.
Mercure Maldives Kooddoo is the first resort that can be accessed by direct flights from Male. Other resorts require a speedboat transfer.

Just opened: Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara, Kuala Lumpur
The first Sofitel in Malaysia opened this month as a part of GuocoLand which is two condominium towers, two office towers, a hotel and mall.
Comprised of 312 luxurious rooms, the latest Sofitel doesn’t compromise with amenities from Lanvin and Hermès.
On-site there are 5 restaurants, 6 meeting rooms, a grand ballroom, outdoor pool, spa and wellness centre.

Just opened: Quest Newcastle West, Newcastle
Quest Apartment Hotels has officially opened its second property in Newcastle which offers guests the comfort of home while away in spacious apartments.
The property features 78 rooms that vary from 1-3 bedroom apartments that are all equipped with kitchen and laundry facilities.
Conference room are on-site as well as parking, a BBQ area and a gym.

Opening soon: Pod Times Square, New York City
This fall Pod Hotel will open its flagship property in Times Square, making it the fifth hotel of the Pod Hotel collection to open.
665 rooms are in the latest hotel, the most in any Pod Hotel. Pod Times Square will also introduce 45 Pod Pads, larger spaces designed for those wishing to stay long term.
From the roof top there are views of the west side of the city and the Hudson River from the guest lounge. A fitness centre is available on-site.

Opening soon: New Road Hotel, London
New Road Hotel will be the latest boutique hotel opening in East London next month. The hotel focuses on accessible luxury, offering only the necessities but with the comfort of a luxury hotel.
80 rooms have been converted from an old textile factory that incorporate a sleek design with exposed brick.
The open concept invites guests to explore more than just the compact rooms with a lobby on each floor.

Opening soon: Metropolis AVANI Residences, Auckland
AVANI makes its New Zealand debut in November with a property set to boast 48 one- and two-bedroom apartments.
Set within a heritage-listed building dating back to 1908, it was originally the Magistrates Court of Auckland and, at 39-floors high, is Auckland's tallest building and offers panoramic views over the city to suit.
When complete Metropolis AVANI Residences will feature a marbled foyer, 370 newly renovated spaces, 22 metre heated swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms, fitness centre and indoor and outdoor spas.

AccorHotels acquires Parklands Resort and Conference Centre
Mudgee’s Parklands Resort and Conference Centre has joined the AccorHotels portfolio. By 2018 it will be rebranded as the Mercure Mudgee and will offer a mid-scale hotel aimed to boost tourism in the area.
Paramount House Hotel to open in Surry Hills
The team behind Reuben Hills, Paramount Coffee Project, Seven Seeds and Bondi Hall are set to make their hotel debut with the launch of Paramount House Hotel in early 2018.
Like their previous projects, the hotel is set to become a destination in the heart of the city and will straddle Paramount House and the adjacent building at 76 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills. The hotel will live within the complex alongside the already standing Paramount Coffee Project cafe, Golden Age Cinema & Bar theatre and The Office Space co-op workspace.
When complete, the hotel is penned to feature 29 bespoke rooms decorated in greenery and the building's heritage details.
Perth’s hotel market takes a nosedive
In June 2017 Perth experienced its lowest occupancy rate in years. Hotel rooms fell as low as $135 a night in luxury hotels that typically had prices at $600 a night or higher. Tourism Western Australia is allocating $2 million to fill empty hotel rooms
