We take a look at hotels that have just opened, hotels that are in the works and major hotel changes across the globe.


Just opened: Hyatt Centric La Rosière, Montvalezan, France

The first Hyatt n France and the first Hyatt ski resort in Europe is now open in the French Alps.

The 69 room property sits at 1,850 metres above sea level in the Franco-Italian La Rosière, a popular spot in the Tarentaise Valley with stunning and dramatic views. Guests have the option to choose one of the 12 family suites with underfloor heating and mountain views.

There are three dining options, a Summit Spa that includes an indoor pool and outdoor hot tub and access to ski services and winter activities.


Just opened: Best Western Sapporo Odori-Koen, Sapporo

Best Western Hotels & Resorts opened its latest hotel in one of Japan’s larger cities in the Chuo-ku or “central ward” across from Odori Park which is famous for hosting the Sapporo Snow festival.

60 rooms are ideally located around many shopping options, offices and more. The rooms have a contemporary design with large working areas.


Just opened: Radisson Blu Hotel Apartments Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai

Radisson Blu opened a fully serviced apartment hotel in the free zone of Dubai Silicon Oasis which is surrounded by international businesses that are based in Dubai. It is also one kilometre from Dubai Academic City which is home to over 30 universities.

The property features 229 rooms that are a mix of studio, one and two bedroom apartments. It is upper upscale accommodation with stylish design and fully equipped kitchens in each apartment. Most rooms have a balcony.


Just opened: Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid, Madrid

Hyatt Centric second hotel in Madrid is now located along the Gran Via. It’s the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Spain and is minutes from top tourist attractions.

The 159-room hotel is built in a historic building from the 1920s with stylish guest rooms inspired by the local surroundings. City views, custom furniture and terraces accompany each.

The hotel opened one of the best rooftop terraces in the city, a restaurant and bar that serves handcrafted cocktails and local dishes and a fitness centre.


Opening soon: The William Inglis Hotel, Sydney

Early next year the 5-star boutique MGallery by Sofitel hotel will open at the $140 million precinct of Riverside Stables.

The new hotel will comprise of 144 rooms across 8 floors, each be designed to reflect the championship horse the room is named after.

Guests can enjoy meals fashioned by fresh ingredients at the paddock-to-plate restaurant. A rooftop bar and deck are decorated with lounges and cabanas that overlook 300 acres of green land. A fitness centre, outdoor pool and spa and wellness centre are also on-site.


Opening soon: Vibe Hotel North Sydney, Sydney

This spring Vibe Hotels opens a hotel in Northpoint, offering social spaces, shopping and dining to both tenants and guests.

The property will feature 187 rooms designed for the business traveller. Speciality shops and necessities will be available.

Top amenities include a rooftop pool with panoramic views of the urban landscape, fitness facilities and four meeting and conference rooms.

New York top chef to join QT Sydney in the kitchen

You may want to pay a visit to QT Sydney this summer as Jean-Paul Lourdes will be in the kitchen stirring up new dishes at Gowings Bar and Grill. His simplistic approach to food will have you savouring Australian home grown produce and meat for both locals and visitors.

Shangri-La Hotel The Marina in Cairns to get a facelift

It’s out with the old traditional style and in with a modern look that is simple with nautical elements at Shangri-La The Marina. The hotel will be undergoing refurbishments in two phases from March through to September in a $13 million refurbishment plan. The hotel will remain open and the final upgrades are scheduled to be completed by 14 December 2018.

Marriott to introduce new smart shower doors

Many creative ideas come to people while they are in the shower and Marriott is a step ahead of the game by introducing the shower door canvas. As hotel guests shower and steam sticks to the door guests can write their ideas down on the door using the steam. The smart door is touch sensitive and will then send it to guests via email.
