We take a look at hotels that have just opened, hotels that are in the works and major hotel changes across the globe.

Just opened: Radisson Jodhpur, Jodhpur

The first Radisson hotel opened in Jodhpur last week in the city centre with easy access to the airport and train station.

The hotel features 96 rooms offering various sizes from superior to business class, studio to two-bedroom suites and presidential suites.

There are four options on-site for bars and dining including a roof top Indian speciality restaurant. A modern fitness centre and spa are also available.

Just opened: Hilton Shenyang, Shenyang

Hilton Shenyang was designed to play homage to the city’s ancient history and welcome guests to one of China’s most commercial centres.

329 rooms are available including 16 suites with modern Chinese decor. The hotel is decorated with traditional Chinese elements such as silk paintings, metal and marble.

Some on-site amenities are a heated pool, an outdoor garden and a fitness centre that is open 24-hours. A grand ballroom and several meeting rooms are also available.

Just opened: Moxy Minneapolis Uptown, Minneapolis

The Uptown neighbourhood in Minneapolis received its first new hotel in decades last week with the opening of the modern and affordable Moxy Minneapolis Uptown.

The property features 125 rooms in a 6-storey building and the brand encourages travellers to engage in a playful guest experience without sacrificing on price or comforts. Fun experiences include checking in at the lobby bar instead of a traditional front desk.

On-site amenities include a vinyl listening room and a record room where guests can find hundreds of records to listen to. A fitness centre and co-working spaces are also available.

Opening soon: Mövenpick Hotel du Lac Tunis, Tunisia

Mövenpick Hotel and Resorts is getting ready to open the brand’s latest property in Northern Africa in Tunisia’s capital, Tunis, this spring. The hotel will be housed in the Berges du Lac business and diplomatic district.

The hotel will feature 189 rooms with either city or lake views. Each room will be equipped with the latest technology.

On-site facilities will include numerous event spaces, a wellness centre and spa, pool, sauna, hydro baths and a gym.

Opening soon: Sirru Fen Fushi, Male

Fairmont will open one of the largest resorts in Maldives this April in the Shaviyani Atoll.

The all villa resort is made up of 120 villas ideal for couples and families. The name, Sirru Fen Fushi, means “secret water island” and is located along a pristine white sand beach with the villas overlooking the turquoise waters.

The resort offers a number of activities including a sunset dolphin tour, diving and snorkeling, water sports, picnics and more. There are three dining options plus a pool bar and spa.

Opening soon: El San Juan Hotel, Carolina, Puerto Rico

After closing in September 2017 due to the damage from Hurricane Maria, Curio Collection by Hilton has announced that El San Juan Hotel will reopen in October.

The hotel is known for its nightlife, elegance and luxury. Restoration is underway for the 388 rooms that include guest rooms and ocean front villas.

Amenities such as the public spaces, pools and landscaping are also being restored.

New villas debut at Elements of Byron

Element of Byron has opened 99 new villas, an adults-only pool and a swim-up cocktail bar. The new villas are two bedrooms with luxurious features such as timber decks, veranda bathhouses and built-in fireplaces. A new outdoor venue, the Botanica Beach Bar, has also opened while an Eco Education Centre will open at a later date.


Fitness and spa week launches at Karma Resorts

Karma Resorts has announced its fitness and spa week will take place at Karma Resorts around the globe this 13-22 April 2018. The company was inspired after partnering with the Rugby Union League and hosting the England Sevens team in Bali after the Commonwealth Games. 3-10 night programs will be run that will include free daily fitness classes, discounted spa packages, healthy food and pop-up juice and smoothie bars.
