We take a look at hotels that have just opened, hotels that are in the works and major hotel changes across the globe.

Just opened: Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing, Beijing

The Hyatt brand continues its expansion in China with the opening of the first Hyatt Regency in the country’s capital late last week in the heart of the Wangjing business district.

The 348 guest room-strong hotel is designed and inspired by nature with natural materials including oak, granite and walnut used throughout.

You’ll discover five restaurants are on the hotel property, each featuring a wide selection of modern dishes. 5,600 square metres has also been created as creative spaces to inspire conferences and social events.

Just opened: Rosewood Baha Mar, Nassau

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has opened its 11th one-of-a-kind luxury properties.

The Rosewood Baha Mar was designed with a Bahamian feel that is welcoming, inviting and refreshing. The design and colours were inspired by the spectacular scenery just outside of the rooms. The property is light, modern and sophisticated.

Multiple pools, four on-site dining options, a spa and fitness centre are available for guests as well as golf, tennis and water activities.

Just opened: ITC Kohenur, Hyderabad

Hyderabad welcomed the latest 5-star luxury hotel in the city earlier this month with the opening of ITC Kohenur - A Luxury Collection Hotel overlooking Durgam Cheruvu Lake.

The 271 rooms are designed to serve any guests high-tech needs and draw inspiration from the hotel’s name, which means “Mountain of Light” in Persian, creating a bright and angular building. The hotel has also designed EVA suites especially for women.

Six dining options are available on the property as well as a rooftop bar, spa with innovative wellness offerings and large meeting spaces.

Just opened: Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge, Chobe National Park, Botswana

After undergoing a complete rebuild, Belmond reopened the Savute Elephant Lodge location at the beginning of June. It’s one of three Belmond properties that offers safari experiences in Botswana.

Guests stay in one of the 12 tented rooms and are surrounded by an abundance of flora, fauna and wildlife on their doorstep. Having breakfast with elephants is not uncommon while guests lounge in the colonial style retreat.

When not wildlife spotting, guest facilities include a spa, bar, fire pit, lounge, an open deck with a pool and a wildlife observatory which overlooks a watering hole and is the first of its kind in the area.

Opening soon: RACV Cape Schanck Resort, Mornington Peninsula

The new RACV Cape Schanck Resort is bound to impress when it opens later this winter as it claims the title as the first premium accommodation to open in the Mornington Peninsula of this size.

The design of the hotel reflects the surroundings of rolling hills. The property sits on an 18-hole golf course and the conference facilities that opened in April 2018 can accommodate up to 450 people.

Three premium restaurants are available on-site as well as a fully-equipped gym, sauna, steam rooms, 25-metre indoor pool and a spa offering beauty and wellness services.

Opening soon: Grand Hotel Villa Torretta, Milan

A Curio Collection by Hilton hotel will open later this year in Milan in a 16th century villa that was once a getaway in the country for Milanese aristocrats.

There are 77 guest rooms and suites with much of the building’s original historic features restored during its renovation in 2002. While the hotel is currently under the MGallery by Sofitel name, further refurbishments and enhancements are underway before the Curio Collection by Hilton opening.

A restaurant, bar, fitness centre, business centre and guest facilities for events will be available.

W Hotels returns down under

Marriott International has announced that two new hotels will make their mark in Australia under the W Hotels brands in 2020. W Brisbane was opened this month and W Melbourne will open early 2020 with the classic W Hotel amenities. The opening of W Sydney will mark the brand's third hotel in the country. It promises to have Instagram-worthy views of Darling Harbour and is penned to open June 2020.

Novotel Geelong begins multi-million dollar upgrade

As part of a $3.5 million upgrade all of the 109 rooms at Novotel Geelong will be renovated. The full renovation is expected to be completed by October of this year. The hotel was originally opened in 2001 and the upgrades were needed to keep up the hotel’s “best hotel in Geelong” reputation.
