Netflix exposes the truth with The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate del Castillo Story

The biographical series will reveal new information regarding the notorious 2016 interview with the Mexican drug lord.

Netflix has today announced a new biographical documentary series investigating the infamous interview between actor Sean Penn and Mexican drug lord El Chapo.

Titled The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate del Castillo Story, the three-part series explores how Mexican actress Kate del Castillo organised the interview, and will feature previously unseen footage and untold details of how the whole thing came to pass.

"As an actress I’ve been given the opportunity to portray fascinating fictional characters, roles I am very proud of," said Kate del Castillo. "Now I get the chance to tell my story, my reality, my truth."

David Broome, producer of The Biggest Loser, is producing the series in conjunction with Kate del Castillo and Yong Yam.

The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate del Castillo Story will release on Netflix on 20 October.

Netflix is on an investigatory binge of late, announcing the CIA expose Wormwood yesterday.
