Nest Cam Indoor is a Wi-Fi-enabled security camera designed to monitor your home while you're away. Using the accompanying Nest mobile app, you can tune into a 24/7 live feed from your Nest Cam Indoor over the Internet and check up on your house whenever you feel the need to. Better yet, you can set your Nest Cam Indoor to alert you automatically if it detects movement, so you know the second something fishy is afoot.
To help keep your mind at peace, Nest Cam Indoor packs plenty of extra features not found in traditional security systems. For instance, not only does it provide a 24/7 live stream of what's going on at home, the video is all in crisp 1080p HD, making it easy to identify faces should the need arise.
You won't have to worry about Nest Cam Indoor dying on you, either, as it plugs directly into a power outlet instead of relying on batteries.
Thanks to its multi-purpose stand, installing Nest Cam Indoor is just as hassle-free. If you can't find a flat surface to set it up on, you can stick it to metal surfaces with its built-in magnet, attach it to regular walls with the included removable wall plate, or screw it into any standard tripod or camera mount you may have lying around.
As important as security is, sitting with your eyeballs glued to a camera feed just isn't practical. That's why Nest Cam Indoor does it for you, constantly watching for sudden movements and suspicious sounds.
If it spots something dubious, it'll notify you immediately with a photo of the activity so you can judge for yourself whether it warrants further attention. Don't worry if you miss the alert, though; the Nest app stores a record of activity from the last three hours, including any photos of notable events.
Home security isn't the only thing Nest Cam Indoor is good for. With its built-in microphone and speaker, you can use it to instruct couriers on the safest place to leave deliveries, chat with a neighbour who comes knocking while you're not at home, or even give your pets commands if they're misbehaving.
If you really want to bolster your security, Nest offers a subscription service called Nest Aware that expands Nest Cam Indoor's functionality. With a Nest Aware subscription, Nest Cam Indoor records everything it sees and hears and stores it in the cloud. You can then go back and scrub through the footage to find out which neighbourhood lout pinched your favourite garden gnome from the front lawn.
A Nest Aware subscription also upgrades Nest Cam Indoor's observational abilities with cloud-based identification algorithms. These give Nest Cam Indoor the smarts to differentiate between people, pets and inanimate objects. Furthermore, you can designate specific zones within Nest Cam Indoor's line of sight and have it send you special alerts when any activity occurs there.
Nest Cam Indoor is compatible with many different smart home devices. Other than support for the rest of the Nest product line, some of the other devices Nest Cam Indoor works with are Philips Hue smart lights to mimic home activity when you're not home, PestNet pet feeding devices to send you photos when your pets are eating, and Mimo baby monitors to alert you when your baby is making a noise.
It integrates into smart hubs like the Google Home speaker, and can also be integrated with smart locks to record video when people enter your home. As time goes on, there will be more and more smart home integrations as well.
Nest Cam Indoor is available right now exclusively through iSelect. It can be purchased as a standalone device or as part of iSelect's telco and energy deals with companies like Optus, Mate Communicate and Sumo.
