Mr. Robot SPOILERS: Where does the QR code in Elliot’s journal lead?
Keen-eyed observers would have caught a glimpse of a QR code in Elliot's journal during the season premiere of Mr. Robot. Here's where it leads.
Season 2 of Mr. Robot is off to a predictably mysterious start considering the crazy final moments of season 1. However, one of the biggest mysteries episode one held was a QR code that flashed on the screen as Elliot was flicking through his journal.
I snapped the photo above in attempt to follow the trail using a QR reader. I failed to get the code to trigger a URL. However, some dedicated redditors, like calculatesrandomshit, have taken the task of reconstructing the QR code upon themselves and we now know where the rabbit hole leads. It's a very 90s GeoCities website called Confictura Industries.
There are lots of rumours floating around in this thread about what it all means. Here are a few theories and findings:
- Theory: Confictura Industries is Elliot's first website
- The classic dancing baby GIF has been commented out of the page
- A list of domains hosted under the same IP: fsoc, serverfarm.evil- corp-usa and whoismrrobot
- fsoc leads to a search page. Type "Leave me here" in the search bar and press Enter. This leads you to whoismrrobot. Here you can interact with a console and enter a variety of commands to unlock some strange artworks.
We'll let you explore the rest, and here's hoping people much smarter than me can find some more hidden gems.
