Netflix vs Stan vs Prime Video: Movie library comparison

Looking for a good movie to sink your teeth into? Netflix and Stan are readily accessible at your fingertips but which has the healthier movie selection?

Save yourself from hours of searching through endless libraries with our list of movies that you can stream right now, from Netflix Australia or Stan.

We recently tallied up movie titles for Netflix and Stan and found that as of 18 June 2019, Stan had 998 movies and Netflix Australia had 1500 movies. A huge improvement on the 900 movies Netflix Australia had at launch. While Netflix might cost a fraction more per month at its higher tiers, it makes up for it with a 50% larger library of movies. And it's a similar story when you compare TV show libraries.

We've listed every movie available across Netflix AU, US, Stan and Prime Video and tracked down which services have got 'em and which don't.

How often are your Netflix/Stan comparison lists updated? where does the info come from? I quite often find that when I go to Netflix to look at something your list says they have, it is not there eg Star Wars: The Force Awakens

We were connected to Netflix through our Optus Fetch box. Unfortunately, the Fetch box has problems and will be replaced by Optus in a few days. In testing for problems, the box was rebooted, and we were disconnected from our Netflix account. We were not able to notify Netflix that we were clearing our Fetch box.

Is our Netflix account still active, even though we are advised to rejoin? Will we need to rejoin Netflix? Does Netflix know that we are disconnected? If we rejoin, will we be charged double for Netflix, as it may appear to them that we have 2 accounts? Can you help me?

      Hi Warren,

      Thanks for your inquiry

Yes, your Netflix account is still active. You don’t have to rejoin Netflix and pay the fees again. After the new box arrives, you may just log in using your old Netflix account details and enjoy your subscription. No need to notify Netflix about this, but if you want clarification you may contact them directly.

      Hope this information helps

      Cheers,
      Arnold

      Hi Albert,

Netflix, Presto and Stan all have a selection of classic movies. Though, you might have more luck finding what you’re looking for on iTunes.

      Cheers,
      Brodie

Your website says Netflix has ‘The Narnia Chronicles’. However it’s not there. Does Netflix remove movies?

      Hi Viewer,

It looks like Netflix has removed that title. I will update the table with the correct information.

      Cheers,
      Brodie

does the movie library get bigger or do they only so many allowed because i notice there is not a big range of movies available

      BrodieDecember 14, 2015Staff

      Hi Royce,

Netflix, Presto and Stan are adding movies every month. Whether or not a title gets removed depends on the length of distribution deal.

      Thanks,
      Brodie

      Hi Brian,

With Stan and Netflix, you only pay the monthly subscription fee. There are no additional purchases or premium costs.

      Thanks,

      Brodie
