Mt Buller Ski Resort sits on the foot of the mountain and is home to dozens of accommodation ranging from hostels to luxury hotels. In fact, they're so conveniently placed that they offer ski-in/ski-out from their front doors.

Best cheap Mt Buller accommodation

In between the transport, accommodation, equipment hire and lift passes, the cost of ski trips can rack up. But if you're not fussed about shared accommodation you can score a bed for as low as $270 per night in the city centre with Amber Lodge. If there's a group of you, Ski Club of Victoria - Ivor Whittaker Lodge has triple rooms from $480 (or $160pp). If you're driving in and are willing to stay a little further out you can get that down to $144 per night at Riverhouse at Howqua Dale.

Mount Buller Chalet & Suites might not be on the mountain but it has a peaceful setting, sauna, pool and in-house restaurant. To be closer to the action, 4-star Breathtaker Hotel & Spa has wonderful views of the mountain, a pool and spa treatments while Hotel Pension Grimus has spa tubs with jets in every room.

Best Mt Buller accommodation for families

While most hotels in Mt Buller are family-friendly, it's the little extras that really make some hotels sing. For example, Alpine Retreat has ensuite bunkbeds for families of 4 and 6 and a games room. Another option is Arlberg Hotel where kids can stay free with bookings of two or more nights in select rooms. It has a kids' chill area as well as a restaurant with kid-friendly meals.
