The Monster Hunter games have always been tough nuts to crack. Complex crafting mechanics, punishing combat and long, long battles are par for the course for the dino-duelling series, and while that's exactly what has drawn many players to it, it's pushed even more many players away with its daunting facade.

With Monster Hunter: World, though, Capcom is looking to expand the series' appeal to a broader audience. Taking cues from modern game design, the latest entry aims to streamline a lot of the rougher elements that have plagued the games over the years.

Gone are those frustrating loading screens between zones, replaced with a proper open-world map where you can chase monsters around freely. Global online four-player co-op makes it to the series for the first time as well, along with more user-friendly tutorials and a helpful companion that will provide tips for first-time hunters.

Monster Hunter: World releases on 26 January for PS4 and Xbox One, and you can check out the best prices on the game here in Australia in the table above.
