Did Miley Cyrus just copycat designs from Australian label Discount Universe?

Doone Roisin 3 September 2015

Miley Cyrus and Aussie label Discount Universe are going head to head over claims Cyrus ripped off the brands signature style.

There’s no way you could have missed all the MTV Video Music Awards action since the eve that ‘twas, August 31. Not with Kanye’s shocker announcement that he’ll be running for President in 2020 (YEP, we still don’t know if that one’s a joke) and the barely-there outfits on the star-studded red carpet that sent us all into a frenzy. It’s been flooding our social feeds in a serious way.

But just when we thought it was time to move on to the next big thing (read: funny animal video) Aussie designers Cami James and Nadia Napreychikov of Discount Universe have come out claiming wild child Miley Cyrus and her stylist Simone Harouche have ripped off their designs, commissioning designer Brad Callahan to create the on-stage outfits for Miley and her crew. Big call? Let’s take a look at what’s going down post VMAs.

And then this.

We took a look at what's on the Discount Universe store, case in point below:

It’s safe to say the similarities are pretty close. Big lips, evil-eye motifs, crazy colour pops and a hellovah lot of sparkling sequins. But direct copy? We’re not so sure.
