Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia is always a week of fabulous swimwear. Since Australian Fashion Week is a dedicated resort collection occasion, this event lends itself particularly to swimwear designers.
In previous years, MBFWA has had a dedicated swimwear showcase. Like in 2018, when the showcase featured labels like Duskii, Camp Cove, Fella Swim and Pam Pam. But this year, the swimwear designers went solo – no more showcase. Each of the labels had their own shows.
2019 saw the likes of Bondi Born, Aqua Blu and Matteau show collections. We also saw swimwear from Karla Spetic and, surprisingly, P.E Nation who launched a collaboration with Speedo, which was featured for the first time during the show.
It was an exciting year for swim. We saw patterns, shapes and trends to suit just about everyone and every taste. Aqua Blu went heavy on prints and colours, showing off some bright blue, purple and green designs. Designers like Karla Spetic kept it clean, with simple skimpy designs in block white, black and pink.
