One of the most popular car manufacturers in Australia is offering some EOFY Mazda discounts for thrifty shoppers.
Forget Holden and Ford, Mazda is a far more popular car manufacturer in Australia. In fact, according to the last Motor Vehicle Census by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Mazda was comfortably the second most sold car brand in Australia, only behind Toyota.
Selling over 100,000 cars a year in the Australian market, Mazda will celebrate its 100th year in 2020. The Japanese company has become very much a part of the Australian landscape in that time, with a range of vehicles covering everyone from tradies to parents to new drivers and luxury car lovers.
Mazda's proliferation into Australia also makes parts and servicing an easier affair, too. So if you're thinking of jumping into the driver's seat of a Mazda, making use of its EOFY sales could be a good first step.
How do the Mazda EOFY sales work?
In our opinion, Mazda's EOFY deal offers are as clear as mud. The official website suggests there is a promotion discount on the cars for Mazda EOFY sales, but it does not indicate what the normal price would be. So, if there is a saving to be had at all, it's hard to establish what that is.
On many cars in the range, a "+ EOFY Bonus" is also indicated. However, Mazda never clarifies what that Bonus grants consumers. Upon further investigation with Mazda, we were told that the bonus is dealer-specific, so really, is there a bonus at all? Make sure you push the sales representative at your local Mazda dealership for information on which EOFY Bonus comes with the vehicle before you purchase.
We spoke to Mazda a number of times to try and get clarity on the bonus and the usual drive-away prices for the models listed below, but were unable to get a concrete response. Read into that what you will.
Benefit of buying a Mazda before 30 June
Given the above notes about the way the Mazda EOFY sales work, it appears your only real benefit from buying a car from the manufacturer before 30 June is for your own tax benefits. If you use your car in part or in full for work, then you're eligible to claim a portion of its cost, therefore reducing your tax bill.
You should speak to your accountant to get clarity on how this applies to you. However, the government has recently increased the maximum first-year claim threshold to $30,000. This means you can get a very substantial benefit very quickly.
