Shopping luxury brands while being environmentally and socially responsible, is now just a click away.

Just over a month ago, the online luxury retailer dropped a bridal edit. But now, things are looking green. Introducing MATCHESFASHION's new Responsible Edit.

But what is it exactly?

It's an online hub where customers can discover luxury brands from all over the world that are at the "forefront of conscious fashion". It's live now on the site and is already boasting more than 200 brands. Just some of them include Veja, Acne Studios, Ganni and Stella McCartney.

Jess Christie, chief brand officer at MATCHESFASHION, said in a statement: ''Our responsibility is to enable our customers to shop fashion, which they love, in a more considered way. Nearly 70% of our customers say that they try to live their lives as sustainably as possible – a response that is impossible to ignore."

The Responsible Edit is split into four key "Responsible Pillars".

  • Artisans: More than 50% of a brand's production team need to be made up of artisans and craftspeople for all or specific collections.
  • Charity: Designers are committed to charitable causes or have their own long-term initiatives in place.
  • People: These brands are driving positive change for the people in their supply chain. This can be done by ensuring living wages are paid and a fair work environment is maintained.
  • Materials: The labels are producing products that contain more than 50% lower-impact material content. Vegan leather is a great example of this.

As you can see, it's not all about the environment. The included brands also need to be socially responsible and this is something we love to see.

You can choose to shop within each pillar, though there is definitely intersection between them.

The Responsible Edit hasn't been an overnight decision, in fact, it's been in the works for over two years. MATCHESFASHION collaborated with Eco-Age on the project. The two companies are working towards understanding, encouraging and collaborating with brands. Now is the time for change!
