MANTRA DAO is a decentralised finance (DeFi) platform that specialises in staking, lending and governance in a decentralised manner. It is built on the Rio Chain, a Substrate based blockchain infrastructure that is also interoperable with the Polkadot network. The platform offers 3 major features: a savings and lending platform using pooled digital assets; the native utility token OM that is the governance token of the protocol which enables token holders to vote on interest rates, staking assets and inflation/deflation levels; and a reputation protocol called KARMA that calculates the voting power of OM token holders through certain metrics and increases the chances of native token holders to benefit from the protocol’s financial schemes. You can think of it as being similar to a credit score in the traditional financial markets. The protocol is run by the MANTRA DAO foundation that is also a validator candidate for the Polkadot network. The foundation also manages the safeguarding of intangible assets relating to the project such as trademarks and copyrights.
