When and where you can buy the MAC x Aaliyah collection
The collection we've all been waiting for has finally been revealed and we've got a launch date!
UPDATE: Fans have been waiting for this collection for what feels like forever.
In dedication to the singer Aaliyah, MAC Cosmetics has created an entire collection in her honour. We didn't have the full reveal until now and it does not disappoint.
The collection includes 12 brand new products dropping to the MAC Cosmetics makeup line and we're completely obsessed. There are four brand new lipsticks called Hot Like, Street Thing, Try Again and More Than A Woman. In addition, there are also four lip glasses Brooklyn Born, At Your Best You Are, 1 In A Million and Li Li's Motor City. The lip products don't end there either with two new lip pencils in the shades Follow Your Heart and Nevermore. If you're a fan of MAC lip products then check out the brand's new "Oh Sweetie" lip glasses.
There are some new face products, too, with a new shimmery bronzer making its way into the collection. While we love the entire line, the standout for us would have to be the eyeshadow palette. It consists of nine buttery matte and shimmery shadows to fall in love with.
The brand has been incredibly busy with back to back launches lately, with the most recent being the Mirage Noir summer collection.
So when and where can you get it?
MAC Cosmetics have stated that this collection will drop to maccosmetics.com on 20 June and in stores in North America on 21 June! You can probably expect to see it in our own standalone MAC stores on or soon after that date. You can also check out official MAC stockists like MECCA or most recently, Princess Polly.
It feels like fans have been begging for an Aaliyah dedicated collection forever. MAC treated die-hard fans last year in August when the brand announced that the collection would be happening and coming this year!
Now, we have sneak peeks at products and even a launch date, so pretty much, all our Christmases have come at once. The most exciting part of this entire line is that it's made predominantly for women of colour. It's been nearly 16 years since the R&B singer sadly passed away in a plane crash but she is still an icon and making movements in society to this day!
MAC posted a moving photo to their Instagram revealing the art for the collection and stated "Aaliyah is truly one in a million — an unstoppable icon whose groundbreaking work in R&B music and film inspires us all," the MAC caption read. "Today we join her countless fans in celebrating her with the announcement of the M·A·C Aaliyah collection."
As if that wasn't good enough, the brand showed us two products we could expect to see in the collection and we're already obsessed. The first is an entire eyeshadow palette with nine shades, which is significantly larger than MAC's standard 4 pan palettes. It consists of a shimmery cool grey, a dark blue/black matte shade, a vibrant plum, a shimmery golden mustard, a matte taupe, matte hot chocolate, shimmery dark brown, dusty mauve and deep matte brown. The colours were inspired by one of Aaliyah's music videos, leaving fans guessing as to which one they think it was!
The fun didn't stop there as there was not one, but two reveals. The second product is, of course, a lipstick because MAC definitely knows how to make a lip product. The shade is not one you'd expect and is a shimmering caramel that is going to look amazing on all different skin tones! It's giving us those real 90s makeup vibes and that's not a bad thing.
