Beauty product of the week: Lux Aestiva Gypsy Oil

A body oil that adds a bit of sparkle and tan to your beauty routine.
Why we love this product
If you haven't yet heard of Lux Aestiva, do yourself a favour and check it out right now. The brand creates the most heavenly beauty products and lifestyle pieces that are almost too pretty to ever use.
Along with the brand's jade face roller, my latest obsessions are the Gypsy Oil Shimmers. These particular products aren't just ordinary body oils. They're actually enhanced with flecks of mica, which is a kind of glittery mineral. The effect is a set of rich, sparkly oils that nourish while making your skin glow.
Ordinarily, I am a very big fan of body oils because they're big time savers. While my face is very oily, the skin on my body is super dry – go figure. If I don't regularly moisturise my legs, I can end up with cracked and scaly skin. But I don't have time to moisturise my body every day, my beauty routine is very minimal. I ended up switching to body oils a few years ago because they keep my skin moisturised for about two to three days. When you're running late for work, not having to worry about daily moisturising is a real lifesaver.

But what makes these oils better than the rest is the shimmery mica particles. The mica pieces look like a stunning, glittery galaxy inside the bottle, but when the oil is applied to the skin, the effect is a lot more subtle. The mica provides a luminous and lightly shimmery glow with no chunks of glitter in sight. My favourite shade is the darkest one, Smoky Quartz. I have medium-dark skin and this particular colour enhances the tones of my skin, making it look deeper, as if I'm fresh from a Tahitian vacation.
The light sheen of these oils also has a way of making your limbs look longer and more toned. I liberally douse my arms in this product whenever I'm feeling a bit flat. Once it's all rubbed in, I feel more like a long and lean bronzed goddess than an overworked, time-poor Sydneysider.
The oil itself is made from lots of great stuff like prickly pear, neroli, camellia and apricot seed. These ingredients are packed full of vitamins and nourishing properties, so it really does your skin some good. They're not just pretty.
The oils come in three colours: Smoky Quartz, Tiger's Eye and Rose Quartz. You can see them all on the Lux Aestiva site. But fair warning, visit the site and you may end up buying them all!
Affordability
These oils are $42 for 100mL or $44 for all three in the 30mL variety. They're not cheap but they're not exactly expensive either. And they are really, really pretty.
So when and where can you buy them?
You can shop for Lux Aestiva on the brand's website, or at one of my favourite stores, Nourished Life.
