Louis Vuitton & NBA partnership

The multi-year partnership will see a range of accessories and apparel designed by none other than Virgil Abloh.

Following a leaked announcement earlier this month that French fashion house Louis Vuitton would soon be announcing a global partnership with the NBA, more details surrounding the collaboration have now emerged.

In what it has described as a "multi-year partnership", Louis Vuitton has said in a statement that a collaborative line of NBA apparel and accessories will be designed by American fashion designer Virgil Abloh.

Abloh is the current artistic director of Louis Vuitton's men's wear collection, but is most famously known as the founder of Milan-based label Off-White.

The partnership was officially announced yesterday at a cocktail party in Paris, marking the first time that Vuitton has ever partnered with a North American Sports League.

The cocktail party also saw the unveiling of a travel case that Louis Vuitton produced to house the Larry O'Brien Trophy, which is awarded to the NBA Finals winner each June.

The move, which continued Louis Vuitton's long history of creating trophy cases for the world's most coveted trophies, made the Maison the first official trophy travel case provider for the NBA.

The case itself is coated in Vuitton's famous Monogram Canvas. You can check out it out below:

In a statement, Louis Vuitton chairman and CEO, Michael Burke said, "Louis Vuitton and the NBA are both icons and leaders in their respective fields, and the joining of the two promises exciting and surprising moments, forging historic memories together."

NBA deputy commissioner and COO, Mark Tatum, has meanwhile said of the collaboration, "The tradition, heritage and identity of Louis Vuitton create a natural synergy with the NBA, and this partnership provides a unique and befitting way to showcase our championship trophy to our fans around the world."
