United and Fiji Airways are at war with both airlines cutting the cost of their flights to sunny Los Angeles down to $849 return.
For both airlines, this is on journeys out of Melbourne.
When it comes to flights out of Sydney, Fiji Airways wins with fares from $843 as opposed to United Airlines' $867 return.
Eligible flight dates with both are very similar. On Fiji Airways, your window is from 28 January - 15 March and 1 May - 13 June. On United, you must travel from 20 January - 19 June 2018.
Both give you time to catch the first rays of summer in the city, though being Los Angeles it never really gets too cold throughout the year.
There's no news when the Fiji Airways sale ends, though you need to get in by 30 November to book your United Airlines flights.
As far as price goes, these are some of the cheapest about. They come up over $130 cheaper than Virgin Australia's latest LA dazzler which sees flights out of Melbourne for $985 over the shorter and colder travel period of January-March. If you really want to hit the city during summer though, Virgin Australia is doing it best, offering flights up until September from $999 with the extra cash probably worth it for the weather and atmosphere.
