Wales are out to win a first ever Rugby World Cup title. Finder has a full tournament rundown of the current Six Nations champions.

Update: Wales is just one win away from its first ever Rugby World Cup final. Wales plays South Africa 27 October.

Wales are ranked number five in the world and are well positioned to make a strong run into the knockout stages. The Welsh will have expectations to finish as the first or second team in Pool D. History is against Wales, who have only ever made it to the semi-finals stage once, in the inaugural Rugby World Cup.

Australia vs Wales is scheduled for 5:45pm AEST on Sunday 29 September. It should be the toughest match for either side until the knockout stage. The follow-on effect of this result is huge with potential to avoid the English first up in the knockouts. England have been all the rage during the warm-ups, so the stakes couldn't be higher for the Welsh against the Aussies.

Head coach Warren Gatland has been at the post for almost 13 years now and has helped Wales to almost every single title other than the Rugby World Cup. He recently announced he will vacate his position to take up a new coaching role. Is that the added motivation the Welsh side need to win it all?

Just this past month, Wales had climbed all the way to number 1 in the world after winning 15 matches from 16. Since then the Welsh dropped a couple of games but haven't been embarrassed in any of the losses.

Commentators seem to have a short memory and have forgotten that recent phenomenal streak, not giving them much hope of winning the trophy. So don't be surprised if Wales progress deep into the tournament and challenge for the title of world champions.

All of Wales's 2019 Rugby World Cup action will be live and exclusive to both Foxtel and Kayo Sports. Both platforms require you to subscribe to the service, but don't worry, Kayo has 14-day free trial. A free shot at Australia's premium digital sports streaming service with more than 50 sports?
