How to stream Sheffield Shield cricket live in Australia

Australian cricket fans can celebrate the return of some domestic action by following the Sheffield Shield live. This is how to watch.

For well over a century, the Sheffield Shield has been the premier domestic cricket competition in Australia. It hasn't always been easy to tune in, but the announcement just prior to the 2020/21 season that Fox Cricket would be broadcasting it was great news for fans.

NSW are the most successful team in the tournament's history, winning 47 titles overall, well ahead of Victoria (32). The Blues are also the defending champions, awarded the Shield after last season was cancelled late on due to the coronavirus with NSW holding a commanding lead on the table.

How to stream the 2020/21 Sheffield Shield competition

There is no free-to-air TV coverage of the Sheffield Shield. But with Fox Cricket picking up the broadcast rights for this year's tournament, Foxtel iQ, Foxtel Now and Kayo Sports are all options for catching some action out on the pitch. You can also stream it online on

Stream Sheffield Shield on is governing body Cricket Australia's official site. You can stream Shield matches via the website or the CA Live app for free by signing up. Some matches only had cameras at one end of the pitch in the opening round, which should be rectified for the second round. The streaming qualify is also below what you will see on Kayo Sports.

For those who prefer not to stream, the Sheffield Shield is available on Foxtel iQ. However, it is pricier than your streaming options. You're required to have the mandatory Foxtel Plus pack ($49/month) and then Sports on top ($25/month), so you'll be paying $74/month unless you sign up during a sale.

Speaking of sales, you'll be needing to hope you find one that includes free installation, otherwise that's another fee you'll need to consider.

When is the 2020/21 Sheffield Shield competition?

The new season commenced on 10 October this year, with the first four rounds to be held in South Australia. The dates for the remaining matches and the final have not yet been confirmed as issues surrounding the pandemic and interstate travel continue.
