Don't miss Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Renegades in a Twenty20 cricket match at Optus Stadium in Perth.

The Perth Scorchers made a slow start to their campaign against the Sydney Sixers at the SCG. The visitors' total of 131 all out never looked enough, which proved correct as the Sixers secured an eight-wicket win.

The Melbourne Renegades would have fancied their chances of defending 5-169 against the Sydney Thunder at the unusual location of Geelong. But the New South Welshmen snuck home with just three balls to spare.

Games in the BBL|09 come thick and fast and you can't afford to lose touch with the top four, so both sides will be hungry for victory in this one.

History of Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Renegades

The three-time champion Scorchers were the dominant team in the early years of the Big Bash. That is well illustrated by looking at the head-to-head record between these sides.

Perth prevailed in their first eight matches against the Victorians over seven long seasons. It didn't matter if it was home or away, the Scorchers would win.

That finally changed last season, when the Melbourne outfit ended that streak by knocking over the West Australians both home and away. That confidence boost may have been a big part of the reason why the Renegades ultimately took out their first title.

Who will win Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Renegades?

It was a big fall from grace for the Scorchers, and new head coach Adam Voges's last season. Accustomed to playing finals, the Perth side finished dead last. At least they will be more used to Optus Stadium in their second season at the new ground.

The Renegades would have been unhappy to start their title defence with a loss in Victoria. Yet with Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh wielding the willow, they might continue their recent mastery of the Perth side.
