NBA ALL-STARS NEWS: Get the rosters, the rules and our predictions here
After originally being cancelled the NBA All-Star Weekend is now going ahead, just not entirely as per normal. It was on, then off, unfathomable to go ahead, rumoured to come back and then finally on again.
The NBA flip-flopped so many times on whether to push forward with a variation of All-Star Weekend due to coronavirus. It settled on a single day event with the slam dunk contest, three-point shootout, skills challenge and All-Star game.
For the fourth straight year LeBron James was named team captain after finishing as the top overall vote-getter in the Western Conference. The other team captain is Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant, who is in his return season from an injury, but is ironically injured for the All-Star event.
When is the 2021 NBA All-Star event?
Rather than a three-day event as it has been in the past, this year all the fun and action is being crammed into one day. It's all set to go on Monday 8 March, starting with the Skills Challenge at 10:30am AEDT.
How to watch the 2021 NBA All-Star event
ESPN is the official broadcaster of the NBA All-Star Weekend in Australia. That means Foxtel iQ, Foxtel Now and Kayo Sports are your main viewing options. You can also tune in via Fetch TV or the NBA's League Pass. That means you can watch via every regular NBA broadcaster except for SBS which don't have access to the game.

How to watch the 2021 NBA All-Star game on Kayo Sports
If you are a hoops fan and yet to try out Kayo Sports, the NBA All-Star Weekend could be the perfect time. Kayo currently has a 14-day free trial. So you could check out all of the All-Star action plus some NBA games once the regular season resumes to see if it's right for you.
In total Kayo has access to more than 50 sports and we have put together a full review of the service for you. Subscriptions are $25 a month for the Basic option, where you can watch games on 2 screens or devices. The Premium option is $10 more each month and gives you 3 screens.
Kayo also has a number of special features such as SplitView, where you can watch four sports at once. Interactive Stats, Kayo Minis and a Key Moments Timeline are also options.
The platform is compatible with Android, iOS, Apple TV, Telstra TV, Android TV and Samsung TV (2017 or later), Sony Bravia TVs, Mac and PC as well as Chromecast and AirPlay. On average Kayo has seven live NBA games per week. It even now has ESPN Minis to make it easier to catch up on the action.
Stream NBA All-Star Weekend via Foxtel Now
Foxtel Now is the pay TV giant's digital streaming service. For this you need to subscribe to the Essentials pack in addition to the Sport pack, which costs $54 a month in total. So while it's cheaper than iQ, you're still paying double the price of Kayo Sports.
Live stream NBA All-Star Weekend on NBA League Pass
NBA League Pass is the official streaming site. The All-Star Event and every single NBA game is available via League Pass.
With NBA League Pass you can sign up for access to every game, choose to only watch games from your favourite team or you can individually select eight games per month.
Usually League Pass costs $299.99. Though right now NBA League Pass is offering it for just $114.99 for access to the rest of the 2020–21 season. There's also a seven-day free trial.
Watch NBA All-Star Game on Foxtel iQ
ESPN is showing all of the events from All-Star Weekend. If you have a Foxtel iQ subscription including the Sports HD pack, you are all set.
You can stream it through your laptop or mobile using Foxtel GO or the ESPN app. Both are free with your Sports HD pack, which is $25 a month through Foxtel. But you also have to sign up for the Foxtel Plus package for another $49 a month.
This blows the total monthly bill out to $74 a month. Foxtel is also the only broadcaster in Australia that offers users access to 4K sports content, which is a bonus.
You may also find that you're up for some potential installation costs, though Foxtel iQ deals are also regularly available.
Watch the 2021 NBA All-Star Weekend on Fetch TV
Subscription television service Fetch TV also has access to ESPN. It is showing each of the events over All-Star Weekend, but only in SD because it doesn't have access to ESPN's HD channel.
You can access Fetch TV via its Vibe channel pack for $6 a month. The total cost of your subscription will depend on whether you bought your Fetch box outright or through a broadband provider.
