Liquity is a decentralised protocol built on Ethereum that allows ETH to be borrowed against at zero-interest. Loans are paid out using LUSD, Liquity's native USD-backed stablecoin, and the borrower only has to front a 110% collateral ratio.
The Liquity platform is attempting to disrupt the traditional, centralised lending market that is filled with institutions such as banks. To ensure they are successful, Liquity places an emphasis on decentralisation. For starters, the project has no governance – their services are entirely automated and require no human intervention. Anybody can borrow funds so long as they put up the collateral, and the Liquity platform is censorship-resistant.
As well as LUSD, Liquity also uses its native ERC-20 utility token, LQTY. First and foremost, LQTY is an incentive token. Its primary purpose is to bring new users to the platform and encourage participation in rewards pools, providing more liquidity and economic security to the protocol.
