Why we love this product

I don't know about you, but I generally feel influencer makeup lines are overhyped and underwhelming. But there is one that I'm totally obsessed with right now – the Lily May Mac line of lipsticks.

Lily is an Australian influencer with 3.2 million followers and one of the poutiest pouts Instagram has ever seen. So it was a natural step for her to create lipsticks. The five shades are sold exclusively through Showpo, and I picked one up at a recent sale.

The semi-matte shades are non-drying and won't flake or peel, but you still get that matte look – a big tick in my opinion. The other major plus for me is that the shades completely hide your natural lip colour, leaving the shade of the lipstick undisturbed. As a darker girl, I have brownish lips and many shades look really purplish on me as a result. But these lipsticks look exactly the same on me as they do in the pictures. They do a great jobs of covering my natural pigment.

I chose the colour Toffee Taupe and I think it's the perfect shade for a 90s makeup look. It's the colour of my favourite lip liner, which was discontinued, and I'm so happy I finally managed to find a replacement!

If you're looking for a new lippie, you should definitely give these a go.

Affordability

At $24.95, they aren't cheap, but they're not as expensive as brands like Charlotte Tilbury or Estee Lauder. I'm sure there are cheaper products on the market that are the same colour, but I just really love this formula.

Where you can get it

Lily May Mac lipsticks are available exclusively through Showpo.
