What’s new about the LG G4? Uniquely curved design, 16MP camera, removable battery
How much does the LG G4 cost? Originally retailed for $799, but can be found cheaper now online

LG’s premium smartphone packs in a great camera at an appealing price.

If you're not Apple or Samsung in the current smartphone space, you're typically competing for a very small slice of the smartphone market or trying desperately to take market share from the two big incumbents. LG's strategy over the past few years has been to deliver phones with a very distinct design difference.

Design

  • Unique curved design sets the G4 apart from its competitors
  • One of the last premium smartphones to include a removable battery

Camera

  • 16MP rear camera delivers lightning-fast focus and crisp photos
  • Plenty of manual configuration options for photography pros

Performance

  • Decent performance without any glaring issues
  • Not as snappy as many competing premium handsets

Battery life

  • A 3,000mAh battery should provide plenty of juice, but in reality the G4 taps out early

Verdict

  • A distinct design sets the otherwise ordinary LG G4 apart from other premium smartphones
