Kogan Mobile’s 365-day prepaid plans are now two for the price of one
Team up with a friend and you can save over $250 on Kogan Mobile's long-term mobile plans.
Kogan Mobile is no stranger to bargains. The telco offshoot of Aussie retail giant Kogan frequently slashes the cost of its prepaid mobile plans, making them some of the most competitive on the market.
The latest deal to come out of the telco is a prime example of this. Rather than a straight-up discount, though, Kogan Mobile is offering a bargain targeted specifically at those who like to share the savings love with friends and family.
From today, if you purchase one of Kogan Mobile's M, L or XL 365-day prepaid plans, you'll score yourself a second plan of the same size for free. Unless you're keen on juggling two separate phones and phone numbers, you'll probably want to give this second plan to a relative or your significant other, splitting the cost between you so that you both pay just half the plan's regular price.
Since Kogan Mobile's 365-day plans require you to pay the full yearly cost upfront, having to cover only 50% significantly reduces the barrier to entry, making it easier to take advantage of the extra value Kogan Mobile packs into the plans. The L plan, for example, comes with unlimited standard national calls and texts along with 16GB of data every 30 days. At its regular price, this would work out at approximately $32.90 a month, but by splitting the cost across two people, the monthly cost comes down to around $16.45 – that's almost just $1 per GB. You won't find many other mobile plans with a rate that low.
The one thing to keep in mind with Kogan Mobile's 365-day plans is that they portion their data caps out in 30-day blocks. So while the XL plan comes with almost 280GB of data, you'll only be able to use up to 23GB every 30 days, with any unused data expiring after those 30 days have passed.
On the call front, the M, L and XL plans all come with unlimited standard national calls and texts delivered over Vodafone's 4G network.
If you need some time to convince a second someone to go halves with you on this deal, you'll be glad to know that it's sticking around until 11:59pm on Monday 30 April.
