Kogan Mobile boosts data offering on prepaid plans
Get an extra gig or two on Kogan Mobile's low cost plan.
Kogan Mobile is running a short term promotional deal through to 26 January 2016 that boosts the baseline data of its 5XL plan to 6GB from 5GB. That’s already a decent deal at the asking price of $36.95, but it is feasible to get slightly better value if you’re willing to plunk down more cash for a longer term plan.
The standard Kogan Mobile 3XL deal has a 30 day expiry period, but if you opt for the 90 day variant, the 30 day cost drops to $33.32 for the same 6GB offering with unlimited calls and texts within Australia for a total minimum cost of $99.95.
If you’re willing to go for the 365 day variant you’ll be spending $369.95 upfront, but in return the monthly cost is an effective $30.41, and the data is boosted up to 7GB per month. The lower cost 3XL plan only gets a data boost for its 365 day variant, with 4GB rather than the usual 3GB per month for an outlay of $299.95.
There are a couple of downsides to be aware of with Kogan Mobile, however. Obviously, if you’re signing up for a full year and paying upfront, it’s not that dissimilar to a full contract plan. Kogan Mobile runs on the Vodafone network, but only the 3G segment of the Vodafone network, so if you wanted fast 4G speeds, you wouldn’t find them here.
