The marketplace will let businesses reach millions of new customers.

Australian online retailer Kogan.com has today announced Kogan Marketplace, letting businesses sell directly through the website to Kogan.com customers.

The marketplace, a local competitor to the Amazon Marketplace, has already launched with brands including Microsoft, Lego, Phillips, Gillette and Breville, and over 100,00 products are now available for purchase.

Lazar Monin, Director of Kogan Marketplace, believes the launch will be welcomed by consumers looking to get a better deal on products. "Our mission is to make the most in-demand products and services more affordable for all Australians," he said.

"The launch of Kogan Marketplace is a win-win-win for everyone. Retailers on the Kogan Marketplace Platform will get market-leading infrastructure and the ability to offer their goods to the Kogan Community. With today's launch, there are now over 100,000 products available to purchase on Kogan.com — meaning customers have more choice than ever before."

Customers on the marketplace will also be eligible for regular Kogan.com benefits, including interest free finance options and the ability to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points. They will also be able to use their existing Qantas and Citi reward points to make purchases.

Having made its name as an online electronics retailer, and since expanding into providing mobile phone, Internet and insurance products, Kogan hopes its marketplace will have similar success to that of Amazon's, which generates more than 50% of the tech giant's revenue.

Businesses can apply to join the marketplace, and sellers on the marketplace also get access to Kogan.com's payment gateways, as well as marketing and customer support.

With many businesses struggling to expand internationally, the marketplace may present an opportunity to reach millions of potential Australian customers.
